Re: # 13 Thank you Tahera for reading both my pieces and giving me encouragement. I really appreciate kudos from a fellow writer. I`ve been away from chowk for a while but am going to make a point of reading some of your work and getting back to you on it soon..Cheers!

Zahra, I just loved the piece as it unfolded before me! There`s a thought-provoking freshness to it that I find particularly captivating. The story explores the dynamics of reltionhips, and moves through familiarity and newness with such ease and expertise that leaves the reader yearning for more. And, yes, the para, `We`re sitting in silence...to speak volumes`, is absolutely amazing. Spot-on!

Re: #11

Wa Alaikum Assalaam ... I hope you are well ... keep writing. And do recommend to me some Sufi literature when you come across it.

Umber, a thread that weaves through this tale and keeps in one piece. Umber, a lense through which the narrator and her mother perceive reality and each other. But above all, Umber, a yearning to which the narrator seems to drift toward for a renewed, forever rejuvenated union.

Peace!

absolutely beautiful and kind of gives the impression of a very fragile event slowly taking place in the lives of these two...if its an autobiography i sincerely hope one of them extends a hand to the other

Re: # 5 Lol.. to the being baffled comment! Actually it is a completely fictional non-biographical piece, but aren`t we always inspired by things that happen either to us or those arround us? I really appreciate everyone`s feedback on this very short piece. I wil take into account the being too abstract issue which several people have mentioned in their comments..I admit that is a tendency in much of what I write. Being a reader who hates having things spoon-fed to me, I am scared of ``talking down to`` people in my own writing. As a result I probably go too much to the other extreme of leaving things abstract and unsaid. In any case, a big thank you to all of you for taking the time out to leave your comments. Zahra R

Incredibly well-written!

There is something so unbelievably familiar about the characters and emotions that I am baffled! Either the author is an exceptionally talented writer, or……………???

you should tell your mom not to pick up the phone calls from those family members who only let themselves known at such anniversaries.
