Hey there,
You are right about our radio undergoing a major change.
Iam an RJ myself and have been associated with the radio industry since the past 4 yrz. I saw the radio evolve towards what could have been an amazing source of education, but sumwhere down the road it turned towards becoming a money making machine..or a turn your black money to white machine.
The absence of concerned owners and investors gave the managements a free rien, the RJ`s the rite to promote themselves instead of their radio or the nation`s talents..worse they have a huge role in pushing the listeners towards a more `tapori` attitude.
When i first started..an occasional ``plz tell ABC that i really love him` came as a shocker but now a somber decent and to the point reply comes as an even bigger surprise.
Hours and hours of indian music, nonsensical conversation, blatant flirtation, dumb topics has left me and some rare RJ likeme in a very awkward position..coz when we try to produce some serious food for thought, we are either thwarted by our environments non serious attitude or the daily sponsors who instead of trying to change trends are following them for money
