Ibrahim,

Don`t underestimate love handles, they are important, in fact they are essential.
When love is gone, and it almost always goes away after a certain time, you need to hold on to something and love handles are for life, they never go away.

You feel like that at thirty? I`m in the teatime of my life, my son`s about your age, and am still looking forward to changing my world. Sure the wrinkles have begun, the fat has made me claim `there`s that much more of me to love, now`, getting older hasn`t made me any wiser....it`s a myth oldies spread to ensure people listen to what they`re spewing. Go on and enjoy your life. Health`s wealth. If you`re healthy, in body mind and spirit, in that order, you can do anything. Education helps. You write well. Keep writing.

Interesting perspective except for the chauvinistic take on the blondes, young girls and new colleagues. No wonder u r still unmarried!

Nothing matters.

Zindigi ik peera zann
Jama karti hai shab o roz purani dhajiyan

Zindigi, tu apnay maazi kay kooain main jhaank kar kya paaye gi ?
Iss andhay aur zehreeli hawaon say bharay soonay kooain main jhank kar
Isski khabar kya laaye gi ?
Isski teh main sangraizon kay siwa kuchh bhi nahin
Juz sadaa, kuchh bhi nahin.

Age and achievement, the eternal debate...

...good point about no concept of privacy in this culture! If one is not careful, the person sitting next to you in a waiting area will have your whole biography within half an hour!

Also, the reference to naive, dreamy-eyed approach to life at a young age, as compared to a more cynical one later, is also spot-on.

However, the references to `loose character blonde` and women`s aging signs in the tailpiece leave a bad taste in the mouth. I suppose it was written for the benefit of those men who consider being one-up on women their ultimate achievement, even if they are total failures in all other aspects of their life. I personally think they should learn to deal with their insecurity in a not-so-negative way. In this day and age of gender sensitivity and enlightenment, it`s time we all got over the gender clash.

Overall, though, an interesting satirical piece.

Nice read, thanks for reminding me of my age....now I feel really old....disheartened, disillusioned, more cynical and resentful....thirsty for a chilled beer.
