Almost finished reading the book...brilliant...also shows how much of a brilliant politician and statesman Zia was.
nasah--without Charlie and Gust [my fave character] the USSR would probably still be around and you're right al-Qaeda would not exist. What is the greater evil of the two? Discuss

I watched the film when it came out and enjoyed it very much--it certainly showed me a side to the Afghan war I'd never imagined--but I was a boy when it happened. I do remember watching some BBC documentaries with John Simpson about the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and reading books about Ahmad Shah Masud...at that time, in the UK at least, the Afghans were depicted as heroes...
It shows, above all else, how what we hear during events is much different to the reality...

nasah "AMerica would not become a unipolar pariah of the world -- ruled by a bipolar war criminal from Texas."
Though the US is ruled by higher authorities than the bipolar war criminal but your unipolar/bipolar link was enjoyable to read. Keep up the good work and keep challenging peons of the West like tahmed who sell shit as if it were gold dust....

"“Without Charlie, history would have been different,” --
Indeed, indeed -- the twin towers would still be standing -- 3000 plus Americans would not have died -- a trillion dollar saving on gestapo like security and over no imperialist Iraq war -- would have been bonus -- AMerica would not become a unipolar pariah of the world -- ruled by a bipolar war criminal from Texas.

#39 tahmed, repeating falsehood does not make it true. I answered each and every one of your allegations in which you hypocritically sing praises of the US. US actions around the globe in the third world post ww2 are an open book for all to see and they show it as a power drunk, evil shaitan on the rampage...

#37 masadi: care to back your accusations with anything I wrote? i have challenged you to do this before, and when challenged you have failed to produce anything.
So, once again you prove you are a liar and a hypocrite who tries to make up for his own frustrations by harping about things he is clueless about - harping about the "evil elite", taking the cue from mullah terrorists by referring to the US as "shaitan", and so forth.

If there is anyone here who listens to reason it is I. However, regarding tahmed (Tauheed) he has been clamoring for all of the most barbraic us policies around the globe including the current Iraq war, and never misses a chance to defend that barbarism, barbarism that causes great harm to our people. It is one thing to have their best interest in mind for advertisement (haathi key daant) and quite another to follow throught with practice. The guy is a criminal, he worships unconditionally the white man and his shit, things that have caused immense harm to billions

HP: Thank you for clearing that up for me. :)
Chalta: You don't remember much about me do you? LOL. I could use a few lessons in economics and politics myself, but not from any one here, thank you!!! I am the English major who eschewed economics and paalitiks.
Masadi: I cannot agree that Tauheed sahib has stabbed "our" people in the back (behind was even more painful to contemplate)in favor of the gora babu. I think he has lived amongst goras for a long long while, as has Hamid sahib, but he still has "our" people's best interests at heart. But since you don't listen to reason and we disappoint and disgust you, all this was in vain. . .
Shab-e-khair!

Atleast my criticism of tahmed is based on facts and truth. Chalta on the other hand has to invent BS to discredit me..

Ana, you see, Masadi is what you call a reject of the pakistani and american educational system. Poor guy got kicked out of every place he ever tried to attach himself to. A little community college in kansas, a lil university in Pakistan. the experience has rendered him bitter and confused about who he is. He currently thinks he is the love child of Krushchev and Mohammed. (but always in a bad safari suit).
From what I remember about you, you could offer to teach him a few things about economics and politics but I am not sure he is capable of learning. Something to do with the "love child" thing, I mentioned above. :-)

to let the people know my feelings about them is a service....provided free of charge

ana "Unless you feel you must express your disgust even when he is remotely involved. "
True, I must do that because that "fine Gentleman" (extremely disappointing HP mian), does not spare any remote opportunity to sing the praises of the white man and stab our folk in the behind. Such disgusting people truly disgust me and to let the people know my feelings about them is a service....
