Came across a blog site:
PAKI
Acronym of the major Muslim groups which filled Pakistan after the Partition of India (1947). They are as follows: Pashtu, Afghan, Kurd, Indian. Thus "PAKI," thus "Pakistan."
The diversity of cultures which combined to form Pakistan has led to anyone who looks Pakistani or Indian being called a Paki.
Different from what MAJ had in mind isn't it?

Yes, he could put some heat, but whether he does or not is another issue.
well...you could jump off a building too..what matters is the chances that you'll actually do it...
Let me repeat your take on the issue as is obvious from the title of YOUR thread...
Obama could put some heat on India on Kashmir issue

You seem to have preconceived notions about other people's views.

majumdar #: "At one end you argue that USA was happier living in isolation. And then you say USA shud get involved in disputes in Middle East and South Asia. Any reason why you dont want USA to be happy?"
...you have made a valid point......
i think if the usa can use its influence, to, fairly, resolve disputes, it should do so......
otherwise it should remain in isolation........instead of creating new disputes........at the moment it is doing the later......

"if using pakiwhackers is your idea of a "nuanced approach", then yes..it's exactly the same as what you said...
and I see you haven't laid out what you think obama will do on kashmir..."
I never thought that you twist other people's posts, so I presume that you misinterpreted mine. I had said that Obama will continue but not intensify bombings in Pakistan. My reference to nuanced approach was wrt supporting the civilian government and placing any blame of duplicity on the military.
Now, the Kashmir issue. I did not lay out anything because nobody, perhaps not even Obama, knows what he would do on Kashmir. All we know is an off-hand remark he used in an interview which was not about India-Pak relations. I doubt that he has yet formulated his approach to the Kashmir issue, except that he believes that the resolution of that issue would change Pakistan's attitude towards Afghanistan.
And it is not only moderates like me, even hawks like B.Raman think that Obama will put pressure on India. And Times of India has apparently come out with an "Lay-off Kashmir" editorial for Obama.

If there's anyone new to the forum, you should know that after 9/11, capt clueless here told us that pakiland was on its way to economic superpowerdom..you know..with US wind in her back...and with this new found economic power, it would keep on the jihad until kashmir dropped into their laps...
but..if there's nobody new here...why bother?

Oh boy, you are drawing very rosy picture for Pakistan....
"He is also likely to put gentle pressure on India on Kashmir..."
As a democrat, how Obama can push India further?
