Ras:

I don`t know about bhutto and people before them , that what they did to pakistan (not my time), but i`ve learnt one thing that i don`t have to look back if i see bright in front of me.

The point being, i want to look forward forget what others have done to Pakistan. That land still got a huge potential, so let`s come together and forget all the bhuttos and sharifs and zardari`s and mazari`s. We only need to be Pakistani`s.

Dear Siddiqui Sahib,

Whether deliberate or not on your part, I believe you have emphasized an important concept: Pakistani-Americans as a separate group of people, able to act as the nation`s conscience. There are, I understand, over 4 million expatriate Pakistanis across the globe, with a total income equalling that of Pakistan. And the Pakistani-Americans are among the best educated and well-off among this group. I expect we will hear more and more about this group in future. And that will be all the better for the scores of millions of people in Pakistan. So keep up the good work, and hold the politicans feet to the fire to the extent you can.

Re: Ras

As far as the political careers of BB and NS are concerned, Pakistan has to look beyond these two and find a third alternative. The last ten years have been nothing more than BB and NS. The last decade`s lesson is that we have given the benefit of doubt, twice, to them and have found them wanting. It would be in Pakistan`s interest, contary to what have you have said, if these self-proclaimed king and queen of Pakistani politics ended their imperiums.

I have a strong dislike of the Bhutto family, going back more than a quarter of a century, but I would be the first one to say that this present regime of accountability, against BB and her husband, is nothing more than a political witch-hunt. When this accountibility turns against NS and seeks to unravel his complicity and when charges of corruption are levied against him and he is subjected to the same conditions as BB is being, that would be true justice and till that happens, I am going to cynical about the whole concept of political accountibility in Pakistan.

BB, in this case, is a victim of political intimidation and in forcing her out of politics, NS has succeded in silencing another voice of opposition to his rule. Even though I am against the what is happening to BB, I do not want her to return to power, because she will merely repeat what NS is doing to her and in the midst of this personal grudge match, the real losers will be the people of Pakistan.

Ras,

I have read your articles for a quite a while and have great respect for your opinions.

But why do you have such a blind spot when it comes to the Bhutto family? Why can`t you see their corruption, arrogance and incompetence? Why can`t you see the real damage they have done to Pakistan?

And, why do you keep linking the persecution of the press to the prosecution of Bhutto/Zardari?

You are doing a disservice to the cause of free press in Pakistan by equating their trials with the trial of corrupt politicians.

Ras:

If most ``Pakistani-Americans`` agree with your assertions it will be news to me, cooked or raw.
