I have not seen the movie (I went to the Ritz Theatre and chose Notebook over the Village. I am from India.) but I believe your discussion should have started with a factual summary of presentation instead of a series of philosophic conjectures. After a recounting of the factual presentation, you could still derive your own conclusions.
I do intend to see the movie and think of your evaluations then.
On the face of it your presentation seems to point to a fairly simple theme of the movie. Namely, the vested interest of every generation in having a transmittal of thir own prejudices on to their next generation.
