Paki newspaper trying to link two seperate news items in an attempt to put a big-bad-india-is-killing-the-freedom-fighters spil....

90 killed since launch of bus service: India

SRINAGAR, May 2: The Indian army said on Monday a campaign to hunt down militants in occupied Kashmir had left 90 freedom seekers dead since the launch of the Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus service last month. A senior official said the campaign was being aided by an extensive network of fences built by India in the past decade to “stop militants crossing from Pakistan”.

“The militants were killed in nearly 60 clashes with troops across the (occupied) state since the bus launch on April 7,” the official said. Four groups have threatened to attack passengers on the bus and disrupt the service in a bid to stall a move by India and Pakistan for a “soft border” along the LoC.

The official also said troops had intensified operations against militants to gain an advantage ahead of the normal spring melting of snow now covering alpine passes along the LoC.—AFP

Take a chill pill, man. The Americans don`t take dictation from their allies about how to run their foreign policy.

No...but Pakiland takes dictation from the US government...When Gen Barno says bomb the tribal areas, the paki army gets on it pronto...

``Christians are being killed almost everyday in pakistan, almost become a sport ``

Please produce the daily death toll for last week so that we may believe you.

``Time we indians contacted the local congressman if you`re in the US and conveyed the news``

The Indian Caucas actually went a step further. It first warned the US President that F-16s sale to Pakistan will affect ties with India. President Bush yawned the warning away. Then the Indian caucas tried to table a resolution preventing the sale on the grounds that it would hamper the peace-process. Once again the US cold shouldered India.

Take a chill pill, man. The Americans don`t take dictation from their allies about how to run their foreign policy. They are the jungle ka baadshah today. The F-16s sale was made because the Americans wanted to further their interests in the region, regardless of what other countries think.

Has it ever occured to you that your definition/version of ``Islam`` may be different
than the Paki/Saudi version ? According to Pakis your version is merely the kafir imagination.

Also, if you can pander to one group based on religion - then what should stop others
from pandering based on religion - it is a slippery slope.

But I guess, you are more into ``holding hands and expressing feelings`` rather than
objectivity.

Can you explain what is the appeal of Pakistan to the Kashmiris?

If Pakistan really appeals to the Kashmiris, they are free to leave...Don`t have directions? Let me help...face mecca...start walking...don`t stop until you reach your Islamic paradise..be it Pakistan or saudi arabia....

Its is heartning to read comments from some one like you who is willing to accept mistakes. If you are what u seem & there are more and more people like you out there in India,it will keep the communal bubble from bursting.Comparing Kuka parray and the rest is like comparing Rajeev Gandhi with Veerappan.Kuka parray started as a millitant and was killing the security forces, who inturn were seeking him out. Then he switched sides and started killing millitants with support from the forces. The miltants inturn went on a seek & destroy. The others were respectable members of the society who had nothing to do with Guns. There only weapon was there voice which was silenced.I have lived here all along and never were the pandits threatened over mosque loudspeakers. There are still pandits who live here.I have classmates, why is that they arent dead yet-I accept there are those who want to paint the whole picture as a comunal scene ,but that is not a reality.
Farooq abdullah is certainly our problem but created by the centre by `planting` him there
Your last line describes it all aptly ,for you it is war out`there` for me it is`here`
BTW try and find out what Jethmalani(Now that cant be propaganda) from Kashmir Comitte found out when he said central government has commited sins in Kashmir?

I dont write for a living, and im going to be away for some time so imight not be able to respond to any further posts

So how come there are no improptu demonstrations against killers of J&K CM`s nephew?
Or that honour is only reserved for ``so called injustices`` meted by out by Indian security
forces to so called ``innocents kashmiri civilians``?

J&K CM`s nephew succumbs to bullet wounds

The reality of Kashmir is captured in the headline I`ve posted above...bunch of savage, blood-thirsty, brain-washed fanatics hell-bent on killing everyone who dares question their methods, neutralizing all forms of protest against their tyrannical ways, sabotaging peace process, letting loose terror and violence on the hapless people of the state. Like the Bhasmasur of Indian mythology, the proverbial Frankenstein’s monster, these zealots will ultimately bite the hand that feeds them. Only then will their cheerleaders come to their senses. Till that happens, these thugs are running amok and we are bearing the brunt of their excesses.

Christians are being killed almost everyday in pakistan, almost become a sport , if i dare to say so.And these kashmiri muslims have the balls to browbeat kashmiri pundits. What the rest of us injuns should do is gather all the kashmiri pundits and march en masse into J & K and take back any property belonging to the pundits and beat the living daylights out of any kashmiri muslim who will protest and set things right once in for all.How can a few million kashmiri muslims fight against 999.99 million indians??.And does Uncle George know how many christians have been killed in pakistan lately??.Maybe the F-16 deal might be delayed a bit more , eh??.Time we indians contacted the local congressman if you`re in the US and conveyed the news.

The Kashmir issue is a very complex one and the killings going on there, even more so. On the one hand, you justify the killing of Kuka Parrey by saying it is “war out there” and yet in the same breath lament the killings of Dr. Khuroo and Jalil Andrabi.

When mosque loudspeakers were blaring threats to Kashmiri Pandits asking them to leave their homes or face certain death, how many Kashmiris protested? Virtually the entire Pandit population of the Kashmir valley migrated to Jammu and other places. How many Kashmiris protested?

I’m not saying that the security forces have been all clean. There have been HR violations, but soldiers don’t get a second chance. They react by instinct. One second of hesitation can mean certain death. Custodial killings and rapes are abominable, but I can justify it too by saying, “it is war out there”.

Re: # 27

You talk of the nandi marg masacre, have u ever heard of Zakura crossing,gawkadal,ishber,and..... & so many others, all innocent civillians.I dont believe in and will never justify violence from any side. When the rest of India was burning in communal roits Gandhi said the only ray of hope he saw was in Kashmir. What has changed over 50 yrs of Indian rule to extinguish it?In kashmir you can never be sure who killed whom.So when u talk of the Nadi marg massacre or elimination of political figures you should not take it for granted.
Soldier was court martialled - all this is eye wash. How many of these`accountable` soldiers have been you ever heard of being sentenced?I presume you are intelligent and emancipated enough to belive this was not the only case of molestation or killing over last 15 years.(Check out yesterdays yahoo news for kashmir). Why was kuka parray killed? Its WAR out here.Opposing groups kill those they think are unfavourable to there cause. Its disappointing that you know of kuka parray But not of DR.Khuroo(a renowned cardiologist,Dr.Ashai a renowned orthopod ,Jalil Andrabi A renowned Lawyer and Human rights activist and........ it just goes on and on.
Looking in to barrel of a gun held by a `terrorist` is not the same as looking into one held by a soldier(offcourse the only reason you call him a soldier is his camouflage ,it has nothing to do with discipline) of the`largest democracy in the world`

Inspite of all the killing and gore kashmiris can proudly say that they havent produced a Modi.

Re:ballukhan#26,25

Can you explain what is the appeal of Pakistan to the Kashmiris? Pakistan is economically lagging India, it is non-democratic with military rule and its Punjabi majority dominates other provinces. Yet there are Kashmiris who are eager to join Pakistan for one and only one reason - Islam. It is the emotional pull of religion that attracts them to Pakistan, even though they may be worse-off as Pakistani citizens. If that is the case, India has more muslims than Pakistan. Why shouldn`t we use Islam as a way to attract the Kashmiris to India? The religious clergy as well as top Indian Muslim leaders should be roped in to do extensive tours of Kashmir and actively propagate India`s case over there. That is not a secularism issue. Rather it is the pragmatic use of a resource that we have available to us.

On the economic front, we need to be well aware that we are fighting against jehadi forces and we need the government to step in and facilitate economic growth. Free markets cannot take care of every situation.

Re: # 23

OK... using the cuss words was carrying the free speech thing a bit too far.

But, would you be willing to explain as to why is Sajjad Lone not fighting the elections? Since I`ve been accused of not knowing about the ground situation, let me point that security cordon provided to Mr. Lone comes from the money paid by Indian tax payers. His father was assassinated by ...you should know since you are a Kashmiri. Why is Mirwaiz spewing anti-India rhetoric when he travels to US on Indian passport? His father was also killed in cold blood by...you should know since you are a Kashmiri. Is it our fault that Farooq Abdullah prefers Golf courses to discussions on the plight of Kashmiri people?

Leaders who are corrupt, idiotic, undemocratic, lethargic and indifferent to the well-being of general populace is not a rarity in our country - Laloo, Mulayam, Uma Bharti etc. are not exactly role models of good governance. But, only in the land of Dal lake do you find people rebelling against government because Mufti Saeed spends more time smoking Wills than working on development projects.

Since you like using that phoniest of phonies, `human rights`, would you be kind enough to tell us why are thousands of Kashmiris living in refugee camps in Jammu and Delhi? Why are ears of young girls chopped off? Why are 4-year kids slaughtered for being `informants`? Why was Koka Parrey killed? Why were civilians massacared in Nandimarg? What about suicide attacks on campuses that house families of para-military and army? While we are at it, who burnt Charare-e-Sharief and who seized Hazratbal mosque?

And Sir, trigger-happy soldiers are answerable to their superiors. If you`ve been following the current affairs, a Major of the army was court-martialled on charges of molestation (even though the civilian court had cleared him of any such misdeed). Looking into the barrel of gun wielded by wild-eyed terrorist is no better than being on the receiving end of trigger-happy soldiers.

``They should be actively recruited to go to Kashmir and do advocacy for India - if religion is a trump card, we can play it too.``

I think this would be the BJP line of thinking.......it would be highly counterproductive......it would mean opening the flood gates of nonsense from the maulavis who demand nothing but adherence to their brand of shariat all the time..............it would mean empowering the maulavis to speak FOR the IM-s....this is absolute crap and a retrogressive sugestion!!

``The government should work with the Private Sector to actively promote commercial activity and investment in Kashmir,.....``

It is time we stop passing the buck around. Why should some one invest in Bihari or any other region if the law and order is uncertain? The Biharis or Kashmiris are responsible for the state of their region! Why should soem one set up a shop in Kashmir or Bihar when you know that the extra-state elements like the Hurriyat and Bihari mafiaso would demand their pound of flesh all the time? The only way to promote the industry in Bihar is to eliminate their mafiasos and in Kashmir to eliminate the Hurriyat and their Pak sponsored suicidal jehadis!!
