[If the Pak Army generals can earn an arm and a leg by transiting fuel to India they may have second thoughts on creating chaos in India.]
Majumdar Bhai, Paki generals couldn`t care less about economics. Had they done so, we wouldn`t have witnessed the steady slide of the Paki economy since the 90s when Jihad was in full swing. Besides, history bears witness to the overconfidence of this bunch of SOBs. Once the pipeline is up, it is not beyond them to delude themselves into believing that since the Banias care more about their economy (and so the pipeline), they dare not retaliate against any Paki mischief.
[The unification of Western Europe began with the creation of a coal and steel community in WE. Germany had coal but no iron, Belgium and France had iron but no coal.]
Europe is a very different place Bhai Sahib. Despite the bloody wars amongst themselves, none of them nurses a permanent grudge towards the others like Pakistan has against India.

Actually, i am from the ``most powerful and the oldest`` democracy of the world. But, what is your point?
On second thought, forget about it. You rarely have a point.

Majunmdar...
I find it very strange that two days ago the same people who were saying that who cares what the Indian policy makers think... India is a democracy and people don`t want pipeline with Pakistan... are the same people now jumping up and down about how ``public opinion`` should not cloud ``national interest``...
This is remarkable.

Harish...
There is no long-winded theory about surpluses... Producer Surplus and Consumer Surplus refers to the same issue... the decision as to whether such a surplus exists or not will have to be taken along the lines that you mentioned ...

Dear Manto,
(From the great self professed democrat from the `largest` democracy of the world:

Govts. can and at times should override public opinion -provided the public also gets the right to boot out the govt at the next elections for disregarding its opinion. General comment, not specific to TAP or IPI.

Dear Behram,
Some more sugarcane to chew on.
Forty people were killed and 30 others, including women and children, were wounded when helicopter gunships struck a suspected militants’ compound in a village in North Waziristan on Wednesday morning, officials and residents said

Hope Mr.Arjun computer expert takes note
1. First company to have new boeing airmachine is Pakistani airline.
2. Arjun say there are no big IT companies here. This is answer by Pakistani computer company.

KARACHI: The Digital TV Log application developed by Media Bank (Pvt) Ltd has won the top prize in the Media & Entertainment category of the Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards (APICTA) 2005 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
``Awards are only given to the `best of the best`,`` said Jehan Ara, President Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) in a statement.
``It competed against multiple products from Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei in this category.``
She said the judges found that Digital TV Log was the only software of its kind in media monitoring and research that offers unmatched transparency and functionality.
Jawwad Rizvi, Director Media Bank said Digital TV Log was an application that optimises media monitoring and was a TV transmission reporting tool with complete video content support.
``We always thought it was a unique quality product but it was through the encouragement received from P@SHA that we participated and won first in our local P@SHA ICT Awards and now at the Asia Pacific level,`` he added.
we do not expect any comment from Mr. Arjun.

[Your policy makers will take into account everything (including the imagined and real jehadi fears) before they decide what their consumer surplus is.]
Forget about the surpluses, India will go for the pipeline only if it fully satisfies its economic and security concerns. If it doesn`t, there are alternatives, which even though costlier will at least not jeopardize its interests.

A nation`s security cannot be held hostage to public opinions. Even if it is true that most Indians want the gas pipeline to happen (which i doubt), experts regard this as a security risk for India.
