jayashree, don`t listen to all these political nerds who are just being diplomatic and kind.
you really don`t have any poetic talent, it doesn`t take a poet to tell u this.
i`m not being harsh or mean to you, i`m just being realistic...... the truth is bitter but wouldn`t you rather have someone tell u the truth than lie and tell u that ur poetry is ok.
find another hobby, which will be more satisfying than writing bad poetry.
it`s ok not to write good poetry, in your personal journals etc.....but think twice before sharing bad poetry.

Long ago a very good friend of mine started telling me a joke about a Maulana Sandwich, and then stopped to give me a lecture on gender bias instead.
I never found out about Maulana Sandwich.
I wonder why Jayashree is not interacting?

Hey there Veeresh,
I have one for you also. It was another one of my`funny` (hmm) posts. It was from Ali Chishti`s board which was sadly taken off. So Here I go...ahem (clears his throat)
There was once a man
Sheikh - al- Tarabi
He loved being poked
And was a sharabi
He loved to dance
And flaunt his lance
He was bombed
By an angry Wahabi
Whaddya think? Hmm? Hmm?
Umer M.

Jayashree,
Hi and welcome to Chowk. Don`t worry about the comments. Just keep writing. Explore your ideas and see where the creative impulse takes you. You`ll learn things you never knew you never knew.
All the best,
Aamir

One more thing, Jayashree Coutinho is likely a girl`s name, a lady`s name. So let us have some chivalry here too.

Jayashree:
I recently put my first attempt at poetry on Chowk also. So from one green poet to another, Welcome to the club.
Congratulations on getting your first piece published. Or put on Chowk, which I suppose is pseudo-published. Better than putting it on the Internet yourself, but not as good as getting a major publishing house to print it. Though, there is a possibility that in ten years time, many people will may be pointing to Chowk as a place where they got their first break.
I have never written anything poetic in my life, either. But I think if one really takes something seriously, one can come up with something reasonable. I am a weak speaker of Urdu, but have been able to translate a bit of Ghalib, in my free time, even though I can barely understand anything he writes, when I read it.
At the same time, if you want to do something, you should pursue it with confidence. Your intro, indicates a lot of uncertainity and lack of confidence.

Hi Umer,
If you must write in jest,
Then kindly do not test.
Too early to think up more nursery rhymes.

Mrs Harimau,
You`re a bigger phuddu than I thought. If you must know, i wrote what I wrote in jest, as in, every article comes down to India-Pakistan match. My words were form the poem itself. I was merely speeding up the process. If you must know, I may be doing the same with the upcoming articles. See you there, Mrs Phuddu.

[Mr Jayshree]
Miss Umer
[How dare you, an Indian, talk about us Pakistanis in such a manner. Yes, our eyes are open. Our eyes are open to the atrocities you commit in Kashmir.]
Were they open in 1971?
[Wishing for a new direction? Ha! You can`t wish for a new direction until this fundamental matter is resolved.]
Who said anything about NOT oppressing the Kashmiris? We will continue to oppress the Kashmiris.
[And as for walking under a dream, we don’t have any dreams.]
True.
[We`re not the ones failing miserably against China.]
No; you are only failing miserably against Afghanistan.
[Yeah, you`re right about the miracle bit. You are waiting to see a miracle. Keep wilting under pressure.]
Pressure from Musharraf? Ha, ha, ha. Thanks for the laugh.
