I don`t know where you`re from ``ballukhan``, but one thing i`m sure of..you`re full of gunk.Maybe you are punjabi.Oh these punjabis and their ``fair and lovely``.Yuk.I know this for a fact. The reason pakistan has declined over the years is `cause the rest of the pakis just turned over and spread their legs while their greedy, racist, arrogant, corrupt, unscrupulous, dirty, bigoted and uncouth punjabi brethren had their way and amassed all of pakistan`s resources at the expense of the rest of that country. In india too, we suffered the same fate during the congress years, but unlike pakistan we let them self destruct by inciting bhindranwale and have finally put them in their place as farmers who feed us and as entertainers to amuse us.They eat a lot and have a lot of energy, you know.Except for Dr.Manmohan Singh, every other punjabi, be he muslim, hindu, sikh is pond scum.

One does come across a few lowly frustrated dogs who call all IM-s as PAkistanis- but it is just another way to abuse stereotypes- just like north indian punjabis calling every south indian as `Madrasi Kallu` without any malice.

Well you feel the need to be ``fair`` - so you dont want to comment on the Paki media
alone - you then want to bring in ``some Indians also...``
You are trying the old ``we are all the same`` routine. You are scared that you
may hurt ``pakistani feelings`` py pointing out the hate that exists in the Paki media
- so you are implying to the Pakistanis, dont worry, we Indians also have similiar
problems by saying ``some Indians also...``.
``Some Indians....``, ``Some Pakistanis....``, ``Some Americans....`` can have all kinds
of ideas - but that is totally unrelated to what the Paki media does.
Hope you think through. In the effort to appear to be nice, one should not indulge in
misrepresentations.
regards,

So, where did I suggest equivalence? In one case, it is some people whose misperception is faulty; in the other case it is the media which not only reflects but also shapes a society`s perception.

Dost-mitter,
This is what you wrote
``Pakistani media tend to equate Hindus with India, just as some Indians tend to equate Muslims with Pakistan``
Pakistani media....blah blah ....just as some Indians...blah blah.
See your own sentence ?
If some Indians do something not right - then how many Pakistanis do something
corresponding ? Shouldnt there be some sense of proportion ...
If 10% of Indians do something and if 95% of Pakistanis do something - who needs
to change more ?
You are a dhimmi of the worst kind. The problem with you is that you ``pretend`` to
be all nice - while at the same time perpetuating mistrust and hatred because of
your inability to be honest.
YOu should do some introspection.

satyamvada:
[Why dont you compare the urdu-press with the Hindi press ,
or the Pakistani english press with the Indian english press... ]
I was not comparing Indian and Pakistani media but responding to a specific question.
And yes, there are many Indians, NOT THE INDIAN MEDIA, who frequently call Indian muslims Pakistanis. If you read the Indian media, you will find that many people in Ahmedabad call people living in muslim areas as Pakistanis. I have seen some people using the term routinely even without any ill-will or malice.

Dost-mitter is a perfect example of a dhimmi
He notices the bigoted article in the Paki urdu press and then brings in how
some ``Indians tend to equate muslims with Pak``
This is totally unequal and wrong comparision.
Why dont you compare the urdu-press with the Hindi press ,
or the Pakistani english press with the Indian english press...
Thenm let us see who is more civilized and honest.
Wake up from your slavish mindset and stop being scared,
have the courage to tell the truth.

correction to previous post:
``including their stance towards Pakistan and Hindus`` should read ``including their stance towards India and Hindus`` .

I watched TV discussions but read very few newspapers while in Pakistan, I can do that on the Internet, anyway. But based on my occasional glances at the Urdu press, it is evident that it is a lot less liberal than the English press, including their stance towards Pakistan and Hindus. The Hindus in Pakistan are largely invisible in the press and the Pakistani media tend to equate Hindus with India, just as some Indians tend to equate Muslims with Pakistan.

Dost-mitterji,
If i am not mistaken, readership of Urdu newspapers in Pakistan is much higher than that of the English newspapers. I am told latter`s circulation is abysmal. Since u know Urdu, what did u gather from the Urdu papers in Pak? Did they have anything good to say about India? Were they trying to perpetuate a stereotype of India?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, you were not addressing me. And was I addressing you on any of the threads on which you have abused me?
``“The real problem is that somehow some Indians have taken upon themselves to right Pakistanis and that certainly is not a healthy approach. This condescension would invoke response and if some words are used that are hurtful then may be Indians should also look at what type of words they are using.”- HP
If Indians wanted to `right Pakistanis`, the Parliament building in Islamabad would be bombed by Indians like the Indian Parliament was bombed by Pakistanis. Pakistanis would be shot dead in Lahore Fort by Indians like Indians were shot dead in Delhi Fort by Pakistanis. Pakistani planes would be hijacked by Indians like an Indian plane was hijacked by Pakistanis. Indians would be killing people participating in election process in Pakistan, like Pakistanis are killing people participating in election process in J&K.
Indians could even interfere in Pakistan`s internal politics, the way Pakistan wishes to do in Afghanistan, the way Saudi Arabia, US and Iran do in Pakistan, in varying degrees.
One has to hope that these options will never ever be considered by Indians( unlike in 1971).
As for hurtful words, learn to follow your own advice.

Sadna-
I did not address my previous post to you. I just used the gripes part to present my pov.
If I wanted to take up your complaint I would have addressed you directly.
(I am sure in future we would have some direct exchange of views.)
My conclusion was:

I can understand Indian passions in discussing Pakistan. But if you wanna discuss politics as an observe you discuss it w/o bringing your emotions into it. If you are passionate about some political issues, you become a political worker and should be ready to accept any thing you encounter on the street.
