SKS... quite an interesting status for your religious identity - ``Muslim non-believer.`` I fall in a similar category... although I do NOT pray or fast and am clearly the family`s black sheep... yet I even know that I am a non-believer because of my muslim upbringing. I dont quite buy the notion of unique individuals... after all there are billions of us inhabiting the planet, nothing about one can be so unique after all... however I did think I could possibly have been a loner with this ``insider outsider`` position as a muslim non-believer. Is there a club? j/k

[I look forward to meet Kaka someday. This, in stark exception to a self-imposed rule not to consort with anyone outside cyberspace--especially CHOWK.]

Brother boom boom,

Farzana was saying that it is dangerous to meet someone like echoboom because he is a fanatic and carries weapons of mass destruction. Where do you live brother?

[Is Lafangi good for Lafangaybaazi or is it just a front for her to appear `modern` or `cool`..in the farangi sense..if you know what I mean.]

Lafangi is at heart a punj-waqt-namazi, which means that she doesn`t really pray five time a day like you, but is great believer like Bishop Sponge Bob at heart..

You should post your ilog entries at Unplugged where people like sks can also give you feedback.

Yes this is a new turf for me….will consider some evaluation period to see if I would like to play here for a long term or not…
Well I am as what I say who I am. There is no “pretending” here. If that is your definition of a “genuine munafiq”, so be it but you can’t put me among your list of “incognito munafiqs”. Your labeling is not going to ignite any emotional fervor in me…I am far more matured than that. But what is really mind boggling how your little brain in your big head can connect dots from a munafiq to muslim sleep cellers to 911 type planners?? Why on hell a true munafiq, as u put it, will sacrifice his/her life for that moron imaginary god is beyond my imagination, as people of my likes live for a cause (which may or may not be personal) not die for a cause.
I would like to stress again that I am socially and politically a traditional Muslim but a strong Non Believer. There is no ambiguity over here….

This board is not moving fast enough. Lets all give it a little push.

But why are you a Lala-e-sehra, desert rose that is; in Registaan . There is no raag there and the `rag` does not have the aesthetics for cyberspace.

Is Lafangi good for Lafangaybaazi or is it just a front for her to appear `modern` or `cool`..in the farangi sense..if you know what I mean.

O you new arrival to the board-game. You will reveal yourself soon. Keep posting.

A real genuine munafique! A sleeper-cell among muslims. A pretender eh, planning more 911`s? But do ``they`` know it?

But then there are some merlot-sniffing hounds here who are better incognito munafiques. The Munafique-Munafiques. Those who find it difficult to decalsre their munafiquat to fellow munafiques . They just give hints about knowing some merlot-melon stuff and beach-bumming-cruising-screwing and in an ``undenying`` way let you believe that they have become `modern` and located their deadbeat gora-dads.

I can’t say what the author’s intention is… is it to ridicule a person who preaches rationality but still hold on to the irrational beliefs or is to appreciate the person’s balanced approach towards his rational thoughts and blind faith. To me Dr. Spong or anyone of his likes are nothing but agnostic. You can rationalize or give some logical justification to some of your religious thoughts but there is noting left to rationalize if you do not consider Bible or Quran or any other so called divine mumbo jumbo to be the word of god(s).
To call yourself agnostic is socially suicidal if unfortunately your social circle encompasses mostly conservative and religious minded people. The best way to go about it is to challenge their beliefs but meanwhile claim yourself to be one of them. I do this all the time as I do not want to be socially isolated and a family’s black sheep. I go for jumma prayers, pretend to fast during Ramadan, pray namaz when everybody else around me is praying and sometime also lead the prayer and so on but also cautiously challenges my wife, parents and friends ridiculous and dogmatic beliefs whenever I get a safe opportunity. I am a Muslim but fortunately a non believer….

Bishop Spong could also be a cartoon character, donga think?

Lafangi is kaka`s girlfriend.. she switches her heritage frequently..

Brother `boom,

We are all naajaez aulaad were it not for the `arabi kae dau bol`..

The interview is about ridiculing people who act rational while holding some indefensible beliefs and how that is almost admired by others.

hamzaad:
The article which you hot-linked really talks about a Bishop Spong and not Sponge Bob. The latter is, I`m told a cartoon character. Was Lafangi interviewing a `toon?

How is Lafangi able to speak such passable english. Is Lafangi a real name or you invented it to protect someone`s identity. But why?

Is Lafangi Pakistani, Indian, or Angraiz-kee-naajaez-aulaad?

Could you please let Bishop Sponge Bob talk?

The last two lines should be changed to:

Lafangi: I think it`s kinda cool that you have maintained your faith in God and Jesus even as you criticize the Bible the way that you do.

Bishop Sponge Bob: Thank you. Don`t you think it`s kinda cool out today. I didn`t realize it was going to get chilly this time of the day. I should have worn something warmer then..

kaka, this is amazing. One thing that puzzles me though is your ambivalency-how you seem to be writing with your right brain and critiquing from your left.
