Hi there,
``ki fayenda`` is an interesting poem. Here is an Urdu couplet on Fayeda:
Poochhate hain ishk se kya fayeda
Poochhiye kya fayde se fayeda.

Well, this is a topic that I must attend to :)
Thanks for your response. I wanted to get a take from a female in australia. I have been using Jurlique for the past few years. But here in the US, aromatherapy products are very popular, in general. With Jurlique, once you start using it then you cannot go for anything else. In my case, I started going to their spas for facial and massages and that`s how discovered their products and fragrances. I cannot think of using any other face products due to the chamomile and rose blend I have become used to.
Somehow, despite the fact that I have tried both lavedar and rose handcreams, I am not very much into their hand and body products. I would only use this line for face products. For hand products, I would strongly recommend CrabTree and Evelyn`s La Source Aveda`s hand and foot creams are also great for the weather here.
What peeked my interest was your mention of La mer, which is an upscale product as well and is only found at select locations/stores in the US. Jurlique is also unique in this respect and has select locations. Initially, when the store was opened close to my place, they had some australians visit this location and promote the product. By the way, I have not come across such an excellent client service with any other line. The other great thing is that if you are a regular client then you will get tons of samples when you visit - very important for someone who likes to try first.
In fact, I am truly in love with this line and since this is an australian product, I wanted to hear your take.
I am glad that you had nice things to say.
Thanks.

Zahra_J, what I do know about Jurlique is that it`s very good (lots of celebrities swear by it) and also very expensive. It`s pure plant extracts. They grow the plants on farms using biodynamic priniciples, which means things like burying bulls` horns in the field on a full moon/new moon day-and organically-no chemicals. I think it also has no parabens (La Mer`s full of them!) The rosewater`s good, as is the rose hand cream, which is the best hand cream ever, and the only Jurlique product I`ve used. Take a look at www.jurlique.com.au.

Are you in Australia? If yes, how about a few words on Jurlique.

Jay
1. I will go to functions I feel like attending, not ones some unknown person feels I should attend.
2. Nikki is normally not in favour of Indians congregating, so I wouldn`t try and read his mind.
3.Who is self-deprecating here, you`re the one saying Indians can`t think beyond Camrys? I`m qualified enough, I don`t know about you.
4. I have been in Australia for years and years now. I will neither do anything for Invasion Day or Republic Day. It`s a chance to have a lie-in for me, and I will gladly take it.
5.Faced between paying off an expensive car and a lifetime`s supply of La Mer, I`d take the latter, and I probably will.
Thanks for your careful attention.

Jay,
Nice article. We need you on this forum more regularly though. The Paki brigade, notably tahmed32 and Urstruly seems to be having a field day in your absence.

As I noted earlier majority of the indian aussies are not qualification based immigrants, that process was started only in the late 80s. There are more of the self deprecating types in aussie than in the US. Of late, of course the situation is changing rapidly, indian unless shown otherwise indian is considered an IT professional.
Despite nb`s comments I do stand by my observation that most popular car is camry.

Who thinks it`s the ultimate?I certainly don`t. It`s a lifestyle choice, just as I might choose to live in Bombay or Bangalore. I always consider myself lucky that my country isn`t falling apart, and this is just an option.

I think that`s a bit outdated. It also sounds suspiciously like work! Anyone will tell you the ideal weekend is on the beach. Telstra doesn`t really have that kind of a monopoly either.
The other cars I have an eye on are the Impreza and the new Beetle.
I am an NRI doctor, that`s why I get to see the Mercs, maybe? The Chinese are into Mercedes as well, btw.
And no, the Indian community will have to do without me on January 26, I don`t like that sort of thing.

The average age of cars in australia is around 11 years, for most fairdinkum aussies, a good weekend is lying under the car to remove a diff while shiela hands in the stubbies. Mainly because of the small market, australia gets the latest techno gadgets 2 years after japan, a year after the US. Take the latest wi-fi, I know of indian student whose parents gave one lap with this gimmick and has not been able to use it at ANU for more than a year now, and let me tell you, ANU is one of australias premier educational institutions. Only exception, as far as I know is mobile phones which is simply a reaction to Telstra monopoly, where mobile phone ownership is probably second only to finland.
Why go for austin cooper, get a fair dinkum holden kingswood, a singlet, hand resting on the window sill, crappy music from the radio punctuated by burps.
For the NRI doctors in australia merc is a must, not for others. Camry is still their dream, test it at the Jan 26th fuction at indian gatherings.

Jay, are you THE Jay?
Anyway, I believe, like most people who live here, that Down Under is on top, and Australians don`t dream of a Toyota Camry, just the Indians you know, maybe? Australians are great ones for new cars and new gadgets, so I think it`s unfair to say they catch on late. Most well-off Indians have a Mercedes, and I drive an Echo. My next car is going to be a Mini Cooper!
