Muzammil Sb.
I hope that you have changed the real story, otherwise it really very sad. I know the family, but I am sure that some of your facts are incorrect. For example they lived in N. Nazimabad. Bhutto did graduate from SMC and last I heard he had just gotten married. The rest - I am not sure how much you have changed the story.

I just love the way how interACTORS on chowk... turn good/bad articles into their personal bickerings/whinings etc. etc.
Interesting article... (NOT ``good/bad``, just simply interesting)

I did not mention Thanda Gosht on purpose. The story is too sad and appalling to be taken light-heartedly. However, Urstruly thought the sex in it was a mere “PG”. I wonder how he would rate “Debbie Does Dallas”...PG 13?

oye you forgot ``thanda gosht`` that had both sex and violence and it had double the amount of responses that ``lihaaf`` received.
has romair exhausted all the erotica there is to read in the world that he should be requesting erotica here on chowk? hai hai. :) perhaps he can give poetry a rest for a bit, and try his hand at that. *no pun intended*

``Chowk...needs to add some sex to its violence. The violence part, it has taken care of. Articles on India-Pak etc. get plenty of hits. The sex part is missing.``
I tried that with The Quilt. It got only 19 replies (16, if you count mine). Sex does not sell at Chowk, only Pak-Bharat mud-slinging does. Throw in this Pak-Bharat recipe the masala of Kashmir and the interactions go through the roof! Sex? naah! Pak-Bharat? Hai hai!!!

hamidm mian #81: ``...... most of the guys on chowk are here because there is nothing good on the man channel, and they are tired of looking at the porn sites.......``
How can men get tired of looking at porn sites? That has actually, scientifically, been proven to be impossible. Seriously speaking. Men think about sex once every nanosecond. It is not a coincidence that most male replies on this site are during work hours, when poeple cannot browse the Internet for such sites.........
As for the Man channel, I would have to agree. There is actually nothing good on there........
Personally speaking, if Chowk really wants its hits to go up, it needs to add some sex to its violence. The violence part, it has taken care of. Articles on India-Pak etc. get plenty of hits. The sex part is missing. Though I do remember an article by a lady, about birth control or something, getting major hits........
In any case, any woman who wants to make a difference in Pakistan, will need to have a very thick skin. Far thicker than the skin women need to make a difference in the USA..........

``You are intentionally avoiding my point``
You asked the following question, and I answered it: ``Why dont women who do work in Partition and gender contribute to chowk?``
So I am not sure how you have concluded that I am avoiding your question. Why would I avoid it? Perhaps I didn`t understand it correctly, in which case you should explain the question furthur....
``I find it less amusing which each 6 paragraph apologist meander.....rather than the easy distortions and muttering of male chowkies who as this board continues, could care less about violence against women..........And yet would be the first to wah wah accounts of their destitution here and in the terrible west.``
Why do you feel the need to attack any male that interacts with you, on this site. I didn`t attack you. I was just trying to have an interaction with you. Yet immediately, you are into attack mode. And why do you feel the need to attack males, in general. I did not attack females, as a whole. I highlighted a reasoned answer to your question..........
Chowk Staff, could I kindly request you to take notice of Saminasha`s remarks........Terms like, ``apologistic meander, mutterings, caring less about women violence`` etc. are quite abusive, and are unnecessary attacks on people`s character.............Thanks......

... very moving story,a story of thousands if not millions who went through the multiple migrations and are still doing...
...so many knowledgeable people here and no one mentions `` meray bhi sanam khanay`` by qurrat-ul-ain haider, published in 1948 which is nothing but partition and it`s impact on the muslims of india, particularly of UP...

Hamid Sahb,
With all due respect, this isnt about pc and being sensitive...this is common decency and interest in south asian history and our work at changing its direction and future. Isnt this the stated goal of chowk.com?

``There is a developing discipline that studies Partition narratives. Our time is more wisely spent studying the research and narratives this discipline is archiving rather than the easy distortions and muttering of male chowkies who as this board continues, could care less about violence against women.``
........... i think you are confusing chowk with some other forum - the chowk is not a literary forum where we get together for intellectually stimulating and highfalutin discussions on various genres of literature .......... most of us have trouble pronouncing the word `genre` and can barely walk without our knuckles scraping the ground ........ and the chowk is certainly not a forum for sensitive and politically correct south asian males who are troubled by the lack of agency for females, african-americans, whales, pandas and other victims of male domination .........
...... most of the guys on chowk are here because there is nothing good on the man channel, and they are tired of looking at the porn sites .............. romair is an exception - he actually thinks his profound discourse on chowk - an impressive body of work - is going to change the course of mankind and womankind ................

Dear Syed:
Thanks for a really moving story. Those of us who were caught in the vortex of the partition and went from Pakistan to India or India to West Pakistan only suffered once, but there was no end to the sufferings of those caught in such madness twice. As the hindus say, it`s the praja which has to suffer for the sins of their rajas.
The moral of the story seems to be, the purer the land, the worse it is, or is it?
