I hope that you have changed the real story, otherwise it really very sad. I know the family, but I am sure that some of your facts are incorrect. For example they lived in N. Nazimabad. Bhutto did graduate from SMC and last I heard he had just gotten married. The rest - I am not sure how much you have changed the story.

I just love the way how interACTORS on chowk... turn good/bad articles into their personal bickerings/whinings etc. etc.

I did not mention Thanda Gosht on purpose. The story is too sad and appalling to be taken light-heartedly. However, Urstruly thought the sex in it was a mere “PG”. I wonder how he would rate “Debbie Does Dallas”...PG 13?

I tried that with The Quilt. It got only 19 replies (16, if you count mine). Sex does not sell at Chowk, only Pak-Bharat mud-slinging does. Throw in this Pak-Bharat recipe the masala of Kashmir and the interactions go through the roof! Sex? naah! Pak-Bharat? Hai hai!!!

How can men get tired of looking at porn sites? That has actually, scientifically, been proven to be impossible. Seriously speaking. Men think about sex once every nanosecond. It is not a coincidence that most male replies on this site are during work hours, when poeple cannot browse the Internet for such sites.........

Personally speaking, if Chowk really wants its hits to go up, it needs to add some sex to its violence. The violence part, it has taken care of. Articles on India-Pak etc. get plenty of hits. The sex part is missing. Though I do remember an article by a lady, about birth control or something, getting major hits........

In any case, any woman who wants to make a difference in Pakistan, will need to have a very thick skin. Far thicker than the skin women need to make a difference in the USA..........

...so many knowledgeable people here and no one mentions `` meray bhi sanam khanay`` by qurrat-ul-ain haider, published in 1948 which is nothing but partition and it`s impact on the muslims of india, particularly of UP...

........... i think you are confusing chowk with some other forum - the chowk is not a literary forum where we get together for intellectually stimulating and highfalutin discussions on various genres of literature .......... most of us have trouble pronouncing the word `genre` and can barely walk without our knuckles scraping the ground ........ and the chowk is certainly not a forum for sensitive and politically correct south asian males who are troubled by the lack of agency for females, african-americans, whales, pandas and other victims of male domination .........

Dear Syed:

Thanks for a really moving story. Those of us who were caught in the vortex of the partition and went from Pakistan to India or India to West Pakistan only suffered once, but there was no end to the sufferings of those caught in such madness twice. As the hindus say, it`s the praja which has to suffer for the sins of their rajas.

The moral of the story seems to be, the purer the land, the worse it is, or is it?
