Worldwide India-Pakistan peace movement begins?
Posted by MaheshG Jul 19, 2002 06:21 pm

Tahmed Sahib, inputs from you at this discussion will be greatly appreciated. This is a discussion on Islam. The board is heavily moderated so you can be sure that you will be spared rowdy posts.

Hope to see you there.

Shammi #86,

You seemed to have missed the point entirely.

Nobody is justifying the riots but just imagine a minority community doing exactly what some members of the minority community in India did in a Muslim dominated country.

Think about that before equating India with Saudi Arabia and other fundamentalistic Islamic countries.

Dissing Ideologies

Tahmed,

What has Advani done?

``But a nutcase like Advani in charge of a nuclear armed country of 1.2 billion is dangerous (look what Hitler almost did t0 the world without nukes and a mere 150 million or so Germans).``

SaminaShah, you say

``FV

Thanks for adding another dimension to the Lone killing and the issue of Kashmir. I was not aware of much of the analysis you discussed in your article. I was particularly struck by the following passage:``

What dimension? Mindless ramblings can not qualify as a dimension.

Dear Rambler,

Please read the following article. This one is logical not like the trash you have generated.

BTW, where is that introspective article that you promised me nearly two years back?

http://www.frontlineonnet.com/fl1911/19110190.htm

Read it and understand why Lone was assassinated. Yes, assassinated.

Farzana rambling again.

What is the point of this article? Accuse Vajpayee of killing Lone? Then why talk about the PM addressing the Army after the Kaluchak murders. What`s the connection between the two events?

YLH,

You have double standards in juding people, don`t you?

Gandhi is the devil because the end result of all his harping against untouchability did nothing for the untouchables.

Jinnah is a God because eventhough the end result of all his harping about secularism only ensured the cleansing of minorities from both India and Pakistan, his intentions were good.

Atleast, Gandhi`s intentions didn`t result in the death of millions.

``1) There ARE 30 odd speeches not 1, all speaking of equal rights for all citizens and PROTECTION for Hindus against communal violence. I have quoted them all on numerous occasions. Your cynicism and bigotry speaks for itself... Why are all of you indians so dishonest as to accuse me repeatedly of evading questions when it is YOUR fault for not reading my answers.``

So, he made speeches. Big deal. Politicians only bark they don`t bite. Show us the bite marks then we will agree that Jinnah was working for the minority Hindus and Christians in Pakistan.

Even Laloo and Jayalalitha make speeches in India. Actually, I agree. Jinnah is in the same category as the Laloos and Jayalalithas of India.

Kiran,

``If he had to say something scout, it should have been Gandhi ji`s Pakistani counterpart: Quaid-e-Azam, and not our Prophet. ``

Why? Farzana is an Indian and Jinnah is a Pakistani. Wouldn`t it have been more appropriate to use somebody that Farzana obviously finds no fault with when the same logic can be extended to that somebody as well?

Anny #330,

From where are you coming up with misshaped notions that Pakistanis are more tolerant of dissenting viewpoints?

You are giving yourself too much credit.

You are showing cowasjee as one example. Big deal. For every Cowasjee you have we have Akbar, Saeed Naqvi, Dilip D`Souza and God knows who else. None of these people have spared the govt for failing the Muslims in Gujarat and how many of those have had to leave under the threat of their life as S. Sehbai did. Have you forgotten Ghulam Husnain who has been beaten to a pulp just for exposing the ISI?

You have no credibility whatsoever.

Regarding name calling YLH makes up more than enough for people like you (who claim they are tolerant of dissenting viewpoints as long as the dissenting viewpoints happen to come from Muslims against the Hindu majority).

Scout #311,

Gandhi and Prophet Muhammad are not in the same league. Gandhi is not considered a messenger of God by the Hindus. And it`s not just Hindus who hold Gandhi in esteem. Although, I stand by what you said in your post I wish you would not have said that Hindus worship Gandhi as a God. They do not. Your point about Jinnah and Gandhi was more reasonable.

I personally was not insulted from Farzana`s article. Gandhi was a great leader, but he doesn`t hold my emotions. He had his faults and I don`t mind somebody analyzing Gandhi to the core. But the somebody has to be reasonable. Accusing him of fomenting communalism is downright ridiculous.

All the points in this article have been governed by emotions and not logic. Similarly, the comments on Prophet Mohammad.

``Your intolerance of Ms.Versey speaks volumes about the state of Indian democracy. ``

Disagreement with Farzana is termed as intolerance. And then an underhanded remark on Indian democracy. Sour grapes I say. All your empty slogans withstanding it is Indians who vote every 5 years for their govt not Pakistanis.

``In the final assessment Gandhi unwittingly perhaps (though he loved religious folk) is the daddy of religious politics and the daddy of all religious parties be it JUI, or JUH or the progeny mentioned here by Ms.Versey.``

Yes, Gandhi was responsible for WW-II and the Jewish holocaust. You happy now?

Hasann #15

``Let us acknowledge that all who were killed in Gujarat were human being first and then Hindus, Muslims or christians. Then and only then we can put things in a proper perspective. ``

Very commendable words. Please put them into practice.

``Why no Middle Eastern Muslim country raise their voice for Indian muslims. When a few Jews or Arabs get killed in Palestine, then the whole World knows about them. When thousands of Indian Muslims are slaughtered in India, there is a brief news in the American media.``

You seem to be shedding tears only for Indian Muslims. What happended to your policy of not looking at victims as human beings first and as Hindus, Muslims, Christians second?

The world pays very little attention to India. Period. They don`t care who dies there as long as it`s not a Christian missionary.
