Promoting Research in Pakistan: A Few Ideas
Then of course there is complaint about foreign pakistanis not helping the local ones. This is factually untrue, so many of pakistanis abroad have come to pakistan to be trained by laskers, jaish mohammed etc. So the simplest suggestion from this great academic making policy prescriptions should be to coordinate his visionary collaborations with the laskers.
There are inherent strenghts in pakistani society, and it is centered around jihadis, and it is time that the educatde pakistanis learn to make use of these.

Pakistan has nuclear technology, it has missiles, it has the shahedd battle tank, some aircraft and I am surprised what this man is complaining about lack of reasearch in pakistan. It is very surprising that pakistan has more or less the same technology like india, but has no research capability. Will some enlightened pakistani like YLH, or ferozk tell the truth. Then of course there is complaint about foreign pakistanis not helping the local ones. ``Since the liberal politicans did not have any power base here, they used religion to gain political legitimacy and that gave the mullah a taste of political power. This also explains, why the mullahs went from hating the idea of Pakistan to becoming ``
That is the most pathetic attempt I have seen on chowk to colour the TNT and accomodate Jinnah. The fundamental reason for mullah power is simple, no one has dared to answer the question, ``pakistan ka matlab kya``. Answer based on one speach by jinnah is contradicted by his entire life time of actions.
It is time taht people like you, the educated pakistanis accept that pakistan is an islamic republic and move accordingly rather than putting up pretences. There is nothing wrong with hoodood and honour killings.

It is amusing to see those who came down in the last rain making such profound conclusions on the foundations of indian IT. The most singular reason for the growth in indian IT is the banishment of IBM from indian in 1970. This lead to the creation of ICL, DCM, SRIRAM, TATA etc. These indian companies developed their own capability to make softweares. Some of my class mated were involved in deveoping compilers for russian computers to run Fortran -4 at space center at trivandrum. It is the force of circumstances caused by the denial of technology by the largest computer company of that day which lead to spurt in indian IT.
Then of course is the hindu aversion to any menial jobs. IT, call centers etc are the perfect jobs, though menial does not have the image of meniality and the indian minds have taken it up like duck to water.

I enjoyed all this koranic jimnastics. It would have been simpler if urstruly were to say that in islamic society woman is an asset that the winner takes, not different from the gold of somanath temples. Well let us ask gaznavi about it. In fact the poligamy and honour killings stem from this notion.

Little did she care to mention that all of the people movements in pakistan are simply anti western, they are of symbolic nature to assert the jihadic values of the pak society. It may be more appropriate for shandana to investigate why the parents of the elite schools did not bat an eyelid then the honour killing legislations where reaffirmed by the parliment only a few weeks ago.
This should have been a good study of comparative public reaction. This event only reaffirms the core values of the pak educated elites and their commitment to the vlues created by TNT.

If any one cares to read earlier posts by mantolive, YLH, an educated you will see that he has repeated asserted that there are roads named after abdus salam, there are educational institutions named after him. If you look at tahmeds posts you will find that he has asserted that honour killings are done in tribal areas as part of tribal customs. murder of samia sarwar was explained away as police corruption. They never accept that it is the dissat and quiyat ordinance that has supported honour killings, never repealed by benazir, nawaz or mushy because the average pakistani supports it, it is in tune with their value system.
By denying this reality, and by refusing to accept that it is per the book, the educated have stalled any chance of improvements. It is spineless nature of pakistani educated that is leading pak society to the bayss. It is not the illiterate, it is the tahmed, mantolives and temporal that are the harbingers of pak decay.

You may be aware that pak army is providing protection to sui gas works on a charge basis. It may be time that women like you also may have to seek protection. Following is an item from dawn of today, please talk to the police for protection, you can possibly coordinate the system for women in situation like yours, with the sword of honour hanging over your head.
Police `tax`
A new practice among policemen posted in the Defence Housing Authority in Karachi is charging Rs500 per under-construction house every month. They turn up on motorcycles fitted with a siren to claim their levy which ends after the house is completed and a ``completion levy`` is given one final time. Since no arrests have been made, one wonders with whom and where the money ends up.

So at last the real emma has appeared, trying to portray the travails of a pakistani woman as if it is something similar to that of others in non-muslim countries. Take it from me amma, according to pak law a man can have 4 wives. Try and read about one samia sarwar, she wanted to divorce her husband and she was killed by her own father, and no case was filed, because no crime was committed. Think of who is your ``Wali``, try to have nightmares about honour killings. You are so divorced from pakreality that it is a tragic joke. Follow the path of Samia Sarwar in the name of pak honour, in the name of pak interactors on chowk who are leading you to the honour killing path.

This article and the responses from pakistanis have set the high standard for pakistani pretenses. In the land of tripple talak here is the talk of a man asking his wife to divorce him. The law graduate from USA practicing in pakistan, that is the limit, is there any kind of relevance in any area for US laws in pakistan. A few eeks ago there was a news item, students from achison college raped the 18 year old wife of an 50 year old teacher at atchison college. Then the talk of a 27 year old pakistani globe trotting the post 9/11 world. How stupid of the pak interactors not to mention the hoodood. The level of sofistry if beyond contempt.

Long before pakistan can have inteligent and far reaching policies, they have to create govt departments and institutionsmanned by inteligent people. Take the case of Baglihar dam. They do not have capable people to read and understand the treaty. They beleived that world bank will appoint a neutral expert. The WB president in a fairwel guesture said that there is no time limit and WB could appoint the expert in weeks. The poor pakistanis are waiting, and nothing is going to happen, there is going to be more indo-pak talks. No neutral expert is going to dish out the decision, at least for another couple of years. If the country has no educayed person to read and understand a simple treaty, what hope is there for them to device any IT policy.

Pakistan needs a change in values, a system that honours the educated. Long long after the death of C.V> Raman, the indian nobel laurette, even today he makes the front page news when his discovery is being used.
In pakistan it is the sheeds that are honoured through shaheed foundations. The psosters are calling for jihad recruits, collection boxes are for jihad. What pervades the society is jihad. There is absolutely no culture of honouring the educated. Ar. Khna is honoured for making the bomb, the islamic bomb which is consistant with the notion of jihad.
Pakistanis should abandon the notion of education and concentrate on labour intenisve areas, road construction and transport to exploit the geopgraphic location adavantage.

Jang,
deliberate policy actions broadly in tune with societal values will bring about dramatic changes. A good example is the madrassa system in pakistan, initially funded by the US, now it is well entrenched in the pak society. The products of madrassas are running the NWFP, they are the thugs of karachi, they are in league with the army.
Something like IT or knowledge based system will never work in pakistan because it i inimical to the values. Ideal opportunity for pakistan is to encash the geographical location, improve the transport sector linking afghanistan and central asian countries. Truck drivers, loaders, road builders...that will work for pakistan.
Then of course there is alwyas scope for jihadis, for mine clearing, crash dummies etc.

Romair is a delusion artist, very similar to the collective pakistan. A good example is the recent kashmir-musfaerbad bus service. It is hailed in the pak circles as great recognition of the special status of kashmir as a disputed territory.
The reality is that the so called local travel document is issued by the indian passport office confirming the indian soverignity. It is available to all indians, not kashmiris alone.
It would have been a different story if it is available to only kashmiris, and the document is issued by kashmir state govt.
The reality is that the arrangement has only reinforced the indian postion, while the pakistanis claim that as a succcess, very similar to romair claims.

It is time that educated pakistanis promote ``libiyan option`` for pakistan. The only way pakistan can come out of the morass is the libiyan option of dismantling the nukes. Bomb with an economic basket case is better, so that the ruling elites can be manipulated with $$$. There will be no FDI, no technology transfer till the libiyan option is taken.
Till then digital animation will be restricted to animated gesticulation towards the indians

Here comes another stupid idea, pak govt to put money in to support animation. Pakistan has a good textile indutry accounting for 70 percent of exports. Now under WTO, it is going to decline. All efforts to get better deals from europe and US has been rejected. Crunch time will come in another 18 months. It is time that educated pakistanis promote ``libiyan option`` for pakistan. Romair is very important on chowk, he is the arhetypal pakistani, and is repreentative of the views of pakistani elite who govern and guide pak poliies.
They try to project a view through believing that the public cannot see through them. Take the example of Mushy declaring that the rapist should be hung and the military men are not responsible. This action is prompted to show the image that in pakistan crimes against women are taken seriously. For the rest of the world mushy announcement only shows that there is no rule of law in pakistan, mushywants mushy gets.
Take the case of recent expo 2005 in karachi. Foreign investors were taken to exhibitions with military guards, and streets closed. For pakistanis this is a show of peace and quite in karachi. for the world, it only shows that with out so much of military presence for a simple exhibition only indiactes that investment is risky.
Evry data that romair quotes, every information that romair provides only exposes the reality of pakistan, while for him it shows pakistan as a progressive country.

All of the above data are linked to christian science. When it comes to islamic science, pakistan is on top, the most crowded place for pakistanis is quantanamo bay after karachi, some thing to do with islamisation of science.
It is important to note that there is no indian muslim in quantanamo, that is some confirmation of what the indian muslims are, and it is pathetic that pakistan should concern themselves about indian muslims.
