Even the Amar Chitra Katha (illustrated books for kids which give the main story in a few pages) paint akbar, jehangir, shersha suri, chandbibi, tipu etc in a very positive light and dont publish any negative light books ..e.g. they just dont have books on ghori, ajeb etc.
So they seem to follow a sanskrit advise

HP i did not claim that the books used are written by the british...merely that they are first written in english and then translated to vernacular languages.Even the Amar Chitra Katha (illustrated books for kids which give the main story in a few pages) paint akbar, jehangir, shersha suri, chandbibi, tipu etc in a very positive light and dont publish any negative light books ..e.g. they just dont have books on ghori, ajeb etc.

so, the official history written in angreji and sent to state education boards (for translations to be entered in history books) is dry and like what you presented in a nutshell but conflicts with folklore kept alive in vernacular languages.

hp indian standard history texts (as well as amar chaitra katha series ) pretty much portray mughal rule (or sultanante rule by lodhis and suri etc) as secular. its just that there is a lot of folklore in various local vernacular languages which has contradictory view. vernacular folklore considers "monglai" or mughal rule as equivalent of pestilence...the coinage is colloquially used as an unjust administration...e.g. while protesting police brutality one may say "you cant do this..this is not monglai" etc.so, the official history written in angreji and sent to state education boards (for translations to be entered in history books) is dry and like what you presented in a nutshell but conflicts with folklore kept alive in vernacular languages.

it would be natural to consider one hindu at the time of jehangir since the sikh identity was not solidified (no amrit ceremony was yet invented)

Is Mumbai a hub of dirty politics?
so bhayyas should challange the UPA to get some cash thrown towards mumbai in boosting its infra..railways, sewer for starter.. afterall are railways are near and dear to bhayyas and locals alike..both share the trains and shyte on its tracks.
dilli e.g. gets huge amount of central lagress .. mumbai is unfotunately starved by deshmukh-types who suck-up to upa-walas and that leaves mumbai to likes of thakre. so let A Bachhan and Laloo get pushed by all bhayyas (after all there is at least one bhayya from each family in mumbai) to get mumbai its due infrastructure share or whines of thares will sound like roaring of shers.

A Strategy For Real Agricultural Prosperity
so if you were to look at yield pimorvement alone, a feudal system seems to have given far better output.

imo agriculture really did poorly during the medieval times thanks to lack of feudalism (the kind that existed in europe or japan). indian system the tax-collector did not own the land, the land was kinda owned by the village and plentifully available to who ever wished to till it. the problem was that the tax-collector would tax the tiller but there was little enterprenurial input. the european feudals e.g. actually owned the land and was keen to improve its yield..the indian tiller otoh often times found tilling to be a futile excercise in the view of heavy taxation and general robber-baron baditary. indeed the land under cultivation actually declined during aurangjeb and other mughal period..soldiering became the most sought after profession. mughal system of not allowing hereditary watans did not help..the mansabdar had little incentive to improve his mansab knowing that after his death the king would take it away. after british instituted feudalism along with irrigation, esp in panjab, the yields actually improved dramatically. similar dramatic growth was seen in tea, indigo, coffee plantations, opium as cash-crops.so if you were to look at yield pimorvement alone, a feudal system seems to have given far better output.
It\'s Politics Uber Alles In Kashmir ..... And India
DM sahib where you see problems, i see opportunity to move polity. There is nothing wrong with politics..let everyone play it to their hearts content. Commies do blockades, gujjars do blocakades, kashmiris do valley bandh for various important issues like danish cartoons, its the way we do things to highlight what is important to us. This is the style of lively politics of India. People are not stupid, they do these things because they are important to them, and yes they also use ISI in their games whenever useful.
I know you are from a quasi-scietific background (economics), so consider the problem of finding optimal solution. Sometimes you tend to settle in a local optimum, which is a false solution. So the right thing to do is disturb the system so that the search for the more optimum solution again begins. Its fantastic that the Jammu and Kashmir folks are attempting to resolve their internal issues, we should all welcome this opportunity. The only thing we should do is that the disturbance is enough to move the solution over the brink of the local optimum, else it will again settle in the same old solution, and the effort is therefore not wasted.
We should definately seek help of ISI in this matter, they are not enemies, they are also interested in a solution.
