Dubious Universities
Posted by SRJafri Nov 11, 2004 12:33 am
I hear that Isa lost his job following the two articles he wrote on the dismal situation of higher education in Pakistan. His criticism of the NUML did not impress the GHQ and/or the HEC costing him his job at COMSTECH. COMSTECH is headed by none other than the chairman HEC Professor Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman.

Can somebody confirm that?

Urstruly:

Greetings to you my friend! Hope you are well.

Moved to Pakistan in 2001... In the same year, got married to a ``sunni`` woman from way up north... working for a semi government organization in Islamabad.

Naqshbandi:

You are making a fool of yourself.

Janjua:

How are you man?

Kyla just rustled the grass and all the snakes have popped their heads up. Sad to see Mr. Naqshbandi and Mr. tahmed amongst them.

Asif, you are a disgrace to sufi tradtions of subcontinent. Kindly remove ``Naqshbandi`` from your name. It does not suit you at all. Asif abu Jehal sounds better.

Sincerely,
fairdinkum

It is sad to see some of the comments on this board. People like Mr. tahmed, and Mr. Naqshbandi have been around for a while now. However they obviously have not learned a great deal from their experience of interacting with so many enlightned people who contribute on this site.

Perhaps, the longer one stays on these interactive sites, the cruder one gets.

Bina,

Thanks for writing this excellent paper. We have a along history of resistance against change, modernity, modern education, and scientific & technological development. If you recall, Syed Ahamd Khan tried to convince Muslims of India to embrace modern / secular education. In response, he was met with stiff resistance. The resistance, in one way or the other, continues to this day, though the intensity has subsided to some extent.

As for taking pride in our ``Muslim`` identity, I am afraid we are swimming in turbulent waters. I concur that we need to do something about it.

I agree with the general thrust of your paper and commend you on your efforts. I have written something on ``Future of IT Education in Pakistan``, would you be kind enough to have a look?

My email address is as follows:

Sincerely,
