Murad Baig:
I was on a brief visit to Toronto in Canada. I was surprised to see you making comments in an Asian TV reporting- on auto industry in India. You have broken into the rank of reputable international commentators.

Zardari is a good man and will be pretty harmless. He is waiting the future Prince -his son- to take over the family business of running the party. or do you want another Khaki clad general?

Dosti-Mitter:
".....At least in India, we seem to have a culture where mass murder by mobs is treated differently from individual acts of murder; ........"

I believe this is an extremely thoughtful observation. All true.

My Dear President Musharraf
Posted by Kamath Aug 19, 2008 07:16 pm
I have been a contemporary of times of all types of 'democracies' of Pakistan.
* Guided democracy of Field Marshal Ayub Khan,
* Militray democracy of Genral Yahya Khan,
* Islamic democracy of General Zia,
* Chaotic democracy of Ali Bhutto(s) and Who is the other chap!
* Real democracy of General Musharraf.
But Nothing seems to have survived! So why don't Pakistanis try 'No Name Brand" democracy for some time! It might work. Pakistanis deserve better.

Re: # 6 Tahmed Buddy:

You have either amnesia or selective memory and warm appreciation of thinking of mob ( people in the streets. These are the very people who danced in the streets welcoming General Mush as the liberator.

Now what happened?

Olympic Dreamers

Hello KS:

I have watched on TV many Olympic Events in the past. After watching two or three they all look alike to me. How much excitement can there be say between 4.00 minutes a mile and 3.95 minutes?

The mental discipline, constant practice year after year, the immense efforts to overcome financial and other setbacks and to excel -which an athlete develops- has not changed for decades if not centuries.

So I say to myself, " don't spend TOO much time in front of the box. But read few good books in its place".

Wa Salaam.

And then there was The Impeachment Issue…

Don't underestimate extraordinary survival skills of the commando General Mush. When his back to the wall, he cxan be dangerous and strike back.

So don't make foolish mistake of trying to bell the cat.
Wa Salaam.

Re: # 90 Tahir old Boy:
Yes, I meant precisely,".... LEAVE THEM TO SOLVE THEIR OWN PROBLEMS (and not as in LEAVE THEM TO ROT..." I do not believe in Schadenfreude. All human being including Pakistanis -deserve a better, free, peaceful, and civillized life free of hunger, fear, etc. etc

Anti-Americanism in Pakistan and the Taliban Menace

I think future and destiny of Pakistan should be left to Pakistanis themselves. After all they have come a long way after 60 years into a nation by their own efforts. They have handled their problems and now they can lick Talibani problem too. Pakistani nation will never be run by Talibs.

LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Re: # 682 Laddu:

Your observations ie; Post is correct.
In Spain from 9th 15th century AD when there was agreat interaction between Jews, Muslims and also Christains, Jews were for instance forbidden to ride horses but only donkeys. Horse riding priveledge belonged to Muslims only. The signal was very clear thenm and also now. Non-Muslims must know where they stand despite all these 'tolerance' of Islam business.

What a pity Mr. Naqvi:

Not long ago Pakistan-the big brother tried everything in its power to make Afghanistan its hinterland for "strategic Depth ' of Pak Generals. Sent trained Jihadis and Talibanis. The little Frankenstein's monsters! Pakistan has been a epicentre of Terrorism! Now it is the blow back and payback times.

How come Pakistanis have sudenly become perfect world citizens abhoring terrorism etc!
