Re: # 128 #118 was just a small rant in the style of the posts here....just my sense of humor...

So you do say that Pakistan has been in all but name changed - politically and geographically. That is a huge step, and a step towards safe guarding what it has, but a step backwards from it existing stances. The State has accepted that it cannot bring the people of these areas to see sense (call it acquiescence obeisance or common sense - in a way the end result is similar though marginally different - the only difference is in the sense of the ego)

But the key question you need to answer is how are the populations of the other regions going to take it {having been fed a diet of .... take your pick here jihad, islam, anti-colonial-exploitation-whatever, marxism, ummahism - or various combinations of these}. Do you think they will accept this? For it no smaller an even than the cessation of East Pakistan.

It is easy to shout blame propaganda for everything. It is about choices and beliefs. Do I believe, that Pakistan has other options than what you say (and I feel you are correct upto a point (where I disagree is the hands washing part)). You can make a good start; by accepting that the 3 points I made are correct (atleast any two of these three are applicable the vast majority of the population).

Point one deals with the Marxian thing - opium and religion.
Point two deals with the sense of being wronged
Point three deals with the desire to undo the wrongs.

The fact that you were reduced to apoplexy, and with verbal vengefulness reeking through the post indicates that there both a sense of being wronged, along with a sense of undoing the wrongs.
Come on, HP, you are a pretty intelligent person, you can see that for yourself.

Re: # 120 :D :D The trick createalpha is to read each of masadi's posts in isolation. Do read them as conjoined connected set of thoughts. You will find it is easir to read them then, and also the underlying subtle humor and irony there in....(T)

Re: # 112 HP in a manner of speaking isnt that already happening.....there have been reports that the "writ of the state" does not run in those areas. Which means for all practical purposes the state of pakistan has withdrawn from there. All you are seeing is some sort of a formality - a show of face if you like.

The army, the politicians et al are all singing from the same song. All that is required is for them to fess up say that they have in reality washed their hands of the place.

Afterall the US is already doing what it wants there willy-nilly without so much as a by your leave and there is nothing the army can do about it.

The price that the Pakistan Army and pols have to pay is minimal apart from loss of face.....it is almost a faith-comply now....

greetings kulharee. A great article - very introspective.

I wish people here had the sense to see the article for what it is.....I think you need to start a jihadi anonymous organisation for chowk, and start sessions ...

Pakistan is a country which is sold on

(a) Pristine Islam (only they know what it is and no one else)

(b) a deep sense of insult - since no one in real life believes that they have this pristine religion - all figured out.

(c) Jihad doctrine - in the belief that they are oppressed and not allowed to live freely and that they are slaves

Because of (a) they cannot see the problems they are causing for themselves and to others. Afterall they have the perfect system to hand.

Since no one believes that they have this all fitting answer to all of lives problems, they have (b) and a deep sense that they have been wronged. As a result of which they feel they are slaves and not masters, and they need to do jihad (c) to bring the world to its senses.

Unfortunately no one is buying their snake oil, and every one wants to seek out the cobra and kill it before it can spit any more venom

I have a deep sense of unease, that Pakistan is going to be beaten, its back broken, and made to see sense and tow uncle line properly.

People like Masadi et al will cry for infrastructure, and crap like that. They still think the world is willing to buy their snake oil.....no way jose. They need to change their prattle to sell their snake oil.

The world wants nothing but total obeisance from them - and this hogwash of tribal ferocity is hokum no one is buying any more. $10Biillion is enough to buy ..... in those areas....no more is coming their way. Time the likes of these apologists wake up and smell the shit they are living in.

Either they clear the crap or the world will do it for them...by first taking them to stone age and beyond....before civilising them.

okay Uppal, tell us something different. Everyone knows that the big cities in south asia are essentially full of

(a) vice
(b) run by gansters
(c) fronted by corrupt politicians
(d) populated by apathetic pathetic people
(e) bombs in every street corner.

So is it that you want to say?

There is no ‘honour’ in killing

There is no honor in "honor killing"
Topic started by iron_mask on Sep 7, 2008 1:07:03 am

HP was right on the FP to question the the plebs (sorry the sorry-elitist-prigs) on this topic - by asking them rather searching questions with regard to "feudalism" and "land reform".

For a start, by calling such murders, "honor killings" the people are almost justifying these - its like the self-defence argument. We need to understand that no honor is preserved or served by such killings - it is plain criminality, it is the bastardisation of our mental thought process which has led to this situation - where such killings are called "honor killings".

The issue is not one of feudalism or land reform or what ever here. It is our very thinking (at its fundamental level) which needs changing.

Much as I disagree with a lot of Sarah Palin's stances (re:ID and creationism etc), I admire her strength (mental ofcourse) and determination to have a baby who has downs. The fact that she valued life. This is one thing most South Asians need to learn from the Christian west.

Ekalavya, I was reading DM and just I wanted to respond I saw your response ...DM's response reminded me of a song from way back in the mists of time (he will know it...)

raahi naye-naye rasta naya-naya tum na badalein main na badala sab-kuchh badal gaya raahi
naye-naye yaad suhaani bachapan ki patthar pe khinchi rekha pahalaa-pahala pyaar dilon se mitate
nahin dekha tuufaan samay ke bujha na sake dip jala to jala tum na badalein vaqt ke saath badal
jaaye use pyaar nahin kahate jo har mod pe mud jaaye use yaar nahin kahate yaar vahi jo saathi ban
kar dukh mein saath chala - 2 tum na badalein
