A Freedom Of Pain And Hope

Tahmed Sir,
If we are going to correct all past mistakes, how about repatriating the stranded Paks living in Bangladesh - the law of the land would grant them their return to their own country of which they were loyal citizens? Of course now, you will dance to a different tune. LOL

So, what specific qualifications does Zia's son have to be an influential politician? Perhaps we can look forward to Bilawal Zardari or even Bilal Musharraf to resume where their incompetent parents left off too?

While we fight over article 3.6.4.6 item c forward stroke LLD C backward stroke 845 (2.3.g) sub-paragraph 3, the Tally Ban keep beheading policemen, abducting women, blowing up innocents, and Baluchis go off the reservations while Sipah-e-Sahab enjoys open season on Shias and Christians. Sala koi nizam he yeh?

Let's keep our selective witch hunts going so we can nab Mushy, Altaf, Liaquat, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Wajid Ali Shah, and Mir Jaffer along the way. Now, this will be a very beneficial and just use of our national energy and precious time. Of course, as far as Nawaz Shareef, Zardari, BB, Zia, Yahya, Ayub, Ghulam Mohd, and MA Jinnah are concerned - let's let bygones be bygones and as we all know "Allah is forgiving."

Never have so many people sacrificed so many lives, suffered so much injustice and cruelty, rebounded from so many self-inflicted injuries, paid so dearly with blood, sweat, and treasure, and received so little in return for supporting so many idiots in their attempts to provide leadership, governance, and security, while the leaders enriched their own pockets and propped up the Swiss banking system. Happy Independence Day.

{"Khyber #104 This is like saying that the pilot of a hijacked plane are abbettors because they followed instructions. "}

Tahmed Sahib,
Although I'll bet that, albeit this analogy makes sense to you, most of us are left in Alabama with an illogical albino albatross around our necks, without an alibi for your alabaster construction of something in Albuquerque you know little about.

#30, Riaz,
You are looking for an Ataturk Mustafa Kemal Pasha, but you are not willing to let go of the chains that keep us shackled to the horrible past. Pakistanis almost always describe Ataturk as anti-Muslim. Never mind that he might have been the sole Ghazi of the 20th century. Also, did you know that he died with something like $26 US in his bank account? So, Mushy wanted to emulate Ataturk? LOL

Anum,
Thank you for sharing this fun-filled account of the true spirit of celebrating independence. Live Free, Pakistan.

Kashkin,
Very uplifting and enthusiastically patriotic song. Good work. BTW, is Dabruski a Polish name?

{"These concerned Pakistanis believe that democracy and elections would keep churning out the same corrupt politicians. Democracy empowers people, they concede, but people need jobs, food, electricity and health-care, they argue. They would not mind curbing democracy and freedom of expression to provide for immediate relief, they say."}

Rashid,
Very fleeting and head-spinning account of Pak history with all its misfortunes and betrayals. Thank you for the optimism you place on the much-maligned concept of democracy in Pakistan.
We should always remember that those who promise us quick fixes are usually the ones to quickly line their pockets with the best of the fixes - money, land, power, prestige, or whatever they consider important. Just as the military gave us no security, the Tally Ban will give us no Islam but plenty of hacked limbs, stolen girls, and public spectacles of brutality. God help Pakistan.

{"It was difficult to guess Raghu’s age. Guys like him never age. They are just born and then they die. "}

Beej Bhayya,
I liked the above passage for its powerful message. Very apropos and meaningful piece. Just one bit of advice - for your non-desi audience and some ABCDs, please include a glossary for the various Hindi words like prasad, pujari, and a couple of words that even I didn't know for sure. Thanks.

Salim Katue...Peace and Islam/Pakistan!!!! Kattu, Pakistan was created with enough bloodshed; leave your madressah version of history book and try to find the amount of blood spilled...")

Dear Mr. Nkg
Calling me derogatoy names is not going to enhance your logically vulnerable position. The fact remains that throughout its post-partition history, India has seen much more mob violence, warfare, communal riots, and cruelty than Pakistan. But don't despair, Pakistanis are well on our way to catching up with and surpassing your dubious advantage.

("The reason Pakistan( and India) was peaceful before 1971 was because most people in Pakistan were born in un divided India.")

Raj
Good story, but you shouldn't have said "(and India)."

Pakistan had been very peaceful between 1948 and 1971.

India was anything but peaceful during this period - Hyderabd, Junagadh, Kashmir Goa, Jabalpur, Ahmedabad, with numerous incidents of communal killings culminating in Ayodhya, Bombay, and Gujrat.

To my Indian friends who despise Pakistan because of "terrorism," what excuse did you and your parents and grandparents conjure up when Pakistan was far more peaceful than India from 1948 to 1971?

In fact, terrorism was exported to Palistan and SL by the Indians in the form of Mukhti Bahini and LTTE.
