Re: # 229

what's your question and what's the tantrum about? i knew that if i posted that response piece to padash unkil -because i have my doubts as to "her" gender"-i'd be accused of being jealous by the morons of chowk. so, i posted the piece as dagh sahib, a nic interpreted as male and the rest is history. what is gender, after all? :)

Re: # 227

unkilness is a state of mind (or lack thereof) and not a lack of physical erm vigor : )

Shermast, Padash Unkil, All:

Yes I did get y'all. Booyah :)

Ah, what was Padash's review of Dagh Sahib's piece...?

"Re: # 218Neembu: Yes i did see Dagh's beautiful ilog aas a matter of fact and i loved it. He is truly a prolific writer! More than i can say for some lemons around here! and btw i appreciate your suggestions of what would have been interesting as a story of how i should have handled my conversation with the girl on the couch, but im not doing creative writing here. im telling my life as it is. maybe you should write the next piece and write it just the way ud like to. and also you quote simone dea beauvoir on your profile page. do you know that in addition to being a feminist, she was an avid bisexual who loved a man called jean paul sartre so much and their marriage was based on the belief that monogamy was a myth of the bourgeous. so basically they spent their marriage having 3somes. Makes me love them. but a prude like you....im amazed you dont have issues with that!"

Re: # 212

if this is not a booker entry, you need to tell that to all the padash unkil supporters :)

Let's compare the two pieces:

One insists on the humanity of those involved, even if the antagonist is a john and the protagonist is a sex worker
One gives the sex worker a past, a family who loves her and whom she loves, and a complex narrative. Why is she sex working? Does her family know? Might she be like one of these daughters who is forced to support her family through sex work? How does a sex worker separate physical touch that hurts from touch that heals? What are the psychic distances present in sex work encounter and what are the ironies and tensions inherent in those distances given the physical proximity and intimacy of this work. How does one untangle the degradation and pain involved in this act? Finally, what about those categories of females (and boys) who are forced to enact many forms of sex work?

I didnt see dagh's piece as erotica at all. It was lyrical and sensory (not sensual). Thats the difference. Too bad no one's interested in those distinctions here.

later. i'll convey the brilliant feedback here to dagh sahib :)

i also think that anyone who is going to comment on representations of sex work should have some effing clue of what they are talking about. I seriously doubt that knowledge exists among those defending this piece of fluff.

Taji,

1. because most sex workers are happy and voluntarily in their line of business?

2. because sex for sex workers is as enjoyable as consensual sex and not an actual service being provided through the sex worker's body?

3. because human beings tend to focus on soothing memories in moments of emotional and physical duress

now, how does this discussion differ from padash's happy stripper?

taji unkil, the narrator might have well been cooking daal chaawal for her family-remember she's a stripper who only put out for her boss :)

Taji,
