Ahmed Faraz: The Light Stays

Re: # 53; TNI masadi
[[My disease is called "humanitis", the suffering of humanity is unbearable to people suffering from my condition]]

the suffix of "..itis" is a latin term denoting "inflammation" in 'Pathology' (as in medicine).

from a "medical" perspective, your condition could be translated as "inflammation of humanity (or humans to be precise)"! ...

... is that what you meant? and by your "suffering from" this illness, are you a cause for this "inflammation" or its propagation?

(P.S.: I do hope you have some sense of humour; not asking for too much, is it?)

Re: # 28; quin

you may as well be attempting to communicate with a brick wall ... or other constructs of an equivalent intellect ... and you most probably ARE!!

Re: # 36; tahmed sahib,

i fully agree on that ... one of those moments I suppose ... as Iqbal said:

"achchaa hai dil ke paas rahey paasban-e-aql;
laikin kabhi kabhi isay tanhaa bhi chhorr day"

besides .... TINA (there is no alternative)

Re: # 30; Nadia

though I have no "faith" in the political system in Pakistan (PPP or otherwise ... including since PPP's inception I might add) but let's hope what you said is right eh! .... Pakistan could do with a bit of luck I reckon .... God knows its people deserve it!

Long live Pakistan!!

Re: # 25; majumdar

clearly you need to read up on the history of Central Asia first hand! ... and that of the middle East in the 60s/70s .... but it is often hard to convince someone whose mind is already made up!

and whatever gave you the idea that communism needs to be atheistic? ... again, read up on the history of the Central Asian Republics

Re: # 23;majumdar

look at the history of the Islamic world through the post-colonial era ... communism/socialism was all the rage until the demise of the USSR .... unfortunately the "uprise" of Islamo-religious ideas that we observe now is a true lack of an "alternative" to Americanised capitalism ... which is seen as the enemy

Re: # 18; majumdar

that's where you are wrong; to the muslims, THERE God is the greatest .... "no gods before me ... remember" (actually from the OT but same applies)

they'd rather have NO God (i.e., secularism) than an "alien" God! .... that's why muslims would easily warm up to ideas such as secularism/communism (historically verified) than have an alien god!

[[Pakistanis (except the Taliboon) hate MKG]]

whatever made you think the Taliban love him?
and I don't think the average Pakistani hates MKG ... news to me Majumdar ... they may not all love him but hatred is a strong word!

.... it is never about individuals, and I apologise if you thought it was a personal dig at any one; it is what people as a "group" come from and stand for ... hope it clarifies ... one doesn't need a PhD to work out the staringly obvious

Re: # 37; ijaz

one of my favourite comedians once said "I don't MAKE UP stereotypes, I just SEE them"

same applies here ... I don't make up anything, or ridicule anyone personally .... simply state facts as I see them

Re: # 32; ijaz

I have no political/widespread say in what happens in the society at large

at a personal/individual level, I already try to do what I can
