Ways of the Taliban
Now, a few specific comments:
- The author is trying to highlight something that is and must be of concern to the Pakistani people. It doesn't matter what happens in other countries or how much of it happens there. It doesn't matter if there are bomb-making, mosque-destroying terrorists in other countries, what matters to the pakistani people (or at least it should) is how many of those are here at home causing havoc with our daily lives in many ways.
- People are killing people within countries all over the world mor eor less but that doesn't mean that we use that as an excuse and say that we're not so bad. I pray for my Mom, Sisterss, Brothers, Cousins, uncles, etc safety every day and hope that nothing bad befalls them. That is not how I or they should be living. But if the threat to their security is present even a little bit then it should not be acceptable and whoever may be in the least bit responsible must be removed from society regardless of whether he/she was a victim at some time.

Freedom of expression and opinion is one thing but it's very sad to see that here on Chowk, people more often engage the authors and other interactors into arguments over some minor detail or word or expression and take up a whole lot of space for that verbal fight. This just takes the focus away from a discussion on the actual topic and the thread just fizzles out with time. Now, a few specific comments:

Seriously though, my deepest respect and admiration for the common man, woman, and children who have to endure these conditions for real on a daily basis.

This article was absolutely hilarious!!!!
Mohajirs Are People Too
The article is well written and I'm surprised that someone could notice so many "postive" things about it. My own experience hasn't always spared my mind enough to notice the good things that this airport has going on. Next time I go, maybe I'll take a different look at it.
The Duty Free Shops at the Departure area are pretty decent but forcing people to walk through them is a bit over the top.

I wonder if that Men's Bathroom attendant will ever find out that he's been written about and discussed in a Chowk article. I can just imagine what his reaction would be. I've always tried to avoid availing his sevices cos I know he'll expect a tip in exchage and normally I never have any local cash on me at the time. The article is well written and I'm surprised that someone could notice so many "postive" things about it. I Spy Hindutva
This may be irrelevant to the highly charged discussion going on here but I thought it'd be nice to throw in.

Happy Mother\'s Day
An equally important problem is that a lot of emphasis is placed on having children as soon as you get married. Further, the more you have the better. I know couples where the wife didn't think their marriage was truly accepted by the families unless they had a child. On top of this, if you pile on the weight of problems with actually concieving a child then one can't imagine how miserable life can be for a couple. Admittedly, women feel it more than men do.

Maybe Pakistan should enforce the one-child-per-family rule like China. An equally important problem is that a lot of emphasis is placed on having children as soon as you get married.
