I didn't side with anyone, Mr. Tahir. I'm sorry that you feel that way; however, I don't feel I need to prove the strength of my ties to Islam to you or be judged by you for that.
Also I think Ras was really just paying you a harmless compliment. Why is being a movie reviewer disdainful, now?
The 'Amreekan' book of dreams is out of print these days.

Haven't been to the air & space near Dulles yet...but will do so soon. Have been to the one in Smithsonian which is pretty good too. The free museums are the best part about DC! Love the Smithsonian
There's a wonderful mughal exhibit going on at the Sackler Art Gallery these days; traveling exhibit visiting from Ireland. Ends in August. Highly recommended!

Oh, found them. They were under your full name.
Yet Another Immigrant Story
To "Mr." Tahir --I do wish there was a special title for married/unmarried men too that could be used as disdainfully as you've used 'Mrs' for me :)--
Thank you for your comment and suggestion - I will keep it in mind if I ever wish to have a column 'all to myself' (which is unlikely at any rate) and if I ever do indeed develop some hatred for the country that is my first home and still very much loved by me, believe it or not. I'm sorry for disappointing you with my ramblings which I totally agree, must have been kept to my own blog. But I'm afraid I gave in to the temptation of finding common ground with the many others who find themselves in my position, and are going through similar life-changing experiences. Just as Chowk holds the discretion to decide whether someone's experiences are worth sharing or not on its writers' forum, you have the discretion to not regard them as of any consequence to you - mainly because most of them may not be targeting you in the first place; you, the apparent Chowk-hater who writes in his Chowk profile: "Random Thoughts (tahir): Thanks to all the CHOWKies for their love and admiration over the years". If Chowk is such a tabloid, looks like the tabloid loves you, too!:)
By the way, would love to read some of your stuff on Chowk which your profile says you've written.
Anyway, at the risk of sparking further anti Immigrant-India/Pakistan-America rants, will end this with thanking all those also-immigrants who've warmly welcomed me. I would absolutely love to get in touch with anyone else who resides in DC/Maryland so do ping me if you do. God bless!
