‘Dustbin of history’ or ‘history of sorts’

Re: # 122

You will have to ask a Kashmiri that. One thing I can think of is that little Kashmir will be able to preserve its identity in an independent state. Look at what's happening with the Bihari mass migrations to Punjab. They are beginning to alter the demographic characteristics of the state. Every Sikh I know is complaining about it.

There is the pride of seeing your own country on the world the map - basically nationalism. Don't forget Kashmiris are racially and culturally different to Indians - it isn't just the religion that seperates them from India. They will be able run their own affairs without inferference from outsiders. There are many advantages as well as disadvantages to Kashmiris going their own way. It is their decision at the end of the day.

Re: # 117

"I find people like gowhargelaani an sharmeenqazi as hypocrites of the first order since they hide behind the slogan of 'self-determination' to suggest that they are fighting for a humanitarian and not a Muslim cause."

So you are a mindreader, are you? In fact a maha-mindreader. Five million Kashmiris say their cause is nationalistic BUT you KNOW that it is isn't? How?

"all non-muslim Kashmiris (pandits, dogras, buddhists, sikhs, christians) do not support Kashmiri secession, why do you?"

Ah. You seem to trot this little factoid out every now and then to support your assertion. I think it's basically all you've got. However, Ladahki Buddhists are Tibetans not Kashmiris. Dogras, Sikhs and other Jammuwaals are basically a type of Punjabi not Kashmiris. Kashmiri Pandits are or were a 3% minority in Kashmir. If 97% of their fellow Kashmiris support an independent Kashmir and have rejected Muslim Pakistan why are the Pandits pro Hindu India? I think it is because THEY are the communal element in Kashmir.
