India is not shining

Topic started by VRV on Jun 22, 2008 8:36:26 am

I took Ally's route and tried my travel via Colombo & Idli sambar as bf is my first in air travel. It helped me in de-orientation as I watched 'Outsourced' movie while aboard. The new Hyd airport is indeed world class and I therefore revise my ranking to A- i/o C- (or similar) I gave it during its inauguration.

However the world class experience of the Hyd airport sank as soon as I entered the city. It's chaotic, filthy bordering on anarchy. (In comparison the coastal towns are better managed and cleaner eg. Vizag etc.,)

What a load of rubbish the western press heaps on India saying that India is a happening place!

Yeah, there're wc malls that sell products that are normally sold in the west. There're multiplexes that can satisfy the voracious consumers who had deeper pockets. However the smaller %age of riches is not going to make up for the rest of India's poor. Over and above the rich-poor issue it's the general hygeine & decrepit urban infrastructure that's worrisome.

Spend a few hours in the city roads, u r sure of getting lung problems.

The msg is that India is still a big pit of garbage. I worry if they ever manage to live like civilised ppl.

P.S: I was never guilty of bragging abt Shining India.

VRV,

Had the article been anynymous, I could swear that it was Hamid mian writing.

But Jang is right, you ought to see Kanpur or Agra or some such North Indian city b4 commenting on Hyd.

Regards

VRV, you should be ashamed to talk like that. Civilised people?Who are you, Gwb? Yes, India is all those things, but it is better, not worse than it used to be.

rahul_capri,

I knew something like this existed but didn't have details. Yes this system has prevented mass urbanization and collapse of city infrastructures while at the same time providing for rapid rural uplift sponsored by the State through State Enterprise.

It's because in China the importance of the social individual comes a distant second behind the collective.

jang, even if Raj Thakray has support, politically any solution is difficult to implement, unless you are in communist China where some people are more equal than others. And bhaiyas wont go away just by naraaybaazi and maar peet.

rahul i talked to a lot of bambaiyyas and they indicate a real resonance for raj thakres anti-bhayya stance...when push comes to a shove, we all drop out liberalism (T)

i love my bhayya and his pan. i do however think that the cities like bambai offer cheap-free services to non-rate payers who tru their sheer tenacity and enterprise carve out a living and eventually become rate-payers, in the process create a hellish environment.

somehow there has to be a different paradigm, else raj thakre will definitely flourish. a well-defined contract needs to be in place which all understand and therefore are willing to defend...we need islam

Zeemax, Do you know of the hukou system?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hukou
Thats how the Chinese protect their cities.Such a system would never thrive in a democracy.

I go to inja like 4-6 times a year...it is a dichotomy of excess and wanting....but it is moving in the right direction. Give it time....infrastructure takes long time to develop. It will take decades..

Laddu maharaj sanghi

you can have the cake but cant eat it.90% or more of the societal Moors bearing in India cannot be hidden by inported cosecpts of Malls multiplexes condos privitised for profit air ports to profiteering u.k. base tycoons .Social evils in India is deeply rooted

There in some parts only 300 women for 1000 men to go together to enjoy .You are to first reform to shining status to places from where you are importing your P.R. :|

"I use to get angry then abt such cautions. Now I know that their concerns are justified. The other day I went to taste 'Muslim' break fast (bf) & the places are horribly nauseating. I didnt eat any, btw."

I am not defending indian muslim or Paki Muslims

It would be erroneos to compare I.M in any sense with Paki muslims.

Though pizza hut may be of the same standards on both side.B)

I was in Hyderabad last year. I stayed at one my relatives apartment. I was told that the going price for similar apt in that complex is about Rs80 lakh ($200K). But the sad part is, the moment we stepped out of the apartment complex it was all filth with stagnated rain water on the roads. We had to drive in half foot of rain water. This apartment is very close to the old Begumpet airport.

Car driver told us that the roads and civic amenities were better maintained under CB Naidu. But under him the govt was supplying water to the carpet grass in Hyderabad in tankers while the rest of the state was under severe drought.

In essence there is no overall development of the state and only pockets of Hyderabad city are doing well.

Zee, if u happen to read:

We're cautioned during Pizza Hut (2005) training that anybody who visits south Asian countries shud have the blood tests done for the purpose of safety precaution (for communicable diseases).

I use to get angry then abt such cautions. Now I know that their concerns are justified. The other day I went to taste 'Muslim' break fast (bf) & the places are horribly nauseating. I didnt eat any, btw.

Ask abt Idli sambar, the answer is the same.
