Zeeshan Mahmud

Location: New Hampshire, Amerika.

Highlights from Past Projects:
Short stint as a lousy editor and staff writer at MAG Weekly which produced some awful pieces of shit.
Have contributed to the wannabe tabloid “Sunday” magazine from its early days where I cut my teeth, and still do because they let me do whatever I want and they published me back when nobody read my submissions.

Have written short and shorter stories most notably “One Last Love Song” the one story I’m actually proud of and took me a while to plot, replot, write and rewrite.

Film Reviews for Herald (regularly) and Instep (irregularly).

Writer/Co-creator/Voice actor for “Lone Ranger” radioplays involving a brand new incarnation of the character and all new cast and their insanely bizarre adventures in Lahore Vegas.

Picked up a mic and recorded the lyrics that came into my head for four songs for a band I was part of (“National Jam.”). The songs being of the genres I loathed. One being a boyband pop song about love for a bum (“Bum in the Rain”), another being a death metal parody about the guys who take away chicks who have the hots for us (“Bhindian Suck”), the third was a hiphop dance ditty (“Come to my Party Baby Khan!), and the last one being a crooner ballad to the appalling comedian Hanif Raja {“Eulogy to the Laughter King […goodbye Hanif]}.

Currently working on: Besides the stuff that I make up for Sunday and review for Instep/Herald there’s more short fiction (about gender and sexual orientation and black romance) and possibly a novella on the way (about the shit business of journalism in Pakistan and the year my voice broke as a journalist) right after I finish a screenplay for a horror film that will have everything that has ever fascinated me about the genre. Expect bloody kitchen sinks, ghosts, gods, monsters, magic etc all in a meagre budget with the genius of indie filmmaking.

Future: More stories and maybe maybe maybe write a TV series produced exclusively for the net if I have the time.

I Recall

It’s not just that you can’t revisit the past outside your head. The people, the things, the naiveté is lost. You don’t have a telephone diary for all those unnamed names, no database to find it all again, and your heart’s a colder

Why do I write? I write because I am compelled. Because there are people living in my head who want out.
